Twelve years later.
I walk through the rows of graves, the bunch of bright red roses hanging lightly in my hand. I seek out the grave I have come to visit and sat down, laying the roses out on top of the grave.
“Hey Danny, I brought you something,” I spoke softly, pushing my now dark brown hair behind my ear.
“I have a lot to tell you, it’s been six months already, can you believe it?” moving my legs so they sat underneath my body I continued to speak.
“Everyones doing really well, Dad’s leg is nearly healed. The doctor said that he should be out of the cast in a few weeks, and to not let him play on playgrounds anymore,” Letting out a laugh I continued.
“Georgia is beginning to look at lot like Lindsay now, her eyes finally settled on the blue she has. You would like her she’s naughty for a 2year old.”
I traced the dirt on his grave, not sure how to tell him why I came.
“So, I need to tell you something, it’s pretty big,” I smile to myself softly.
“We have finally set the date for the wedding, it’s going to be in autumn, when the leaves are falling in the park near your house. It’s going to be beautiful,”
The sounds of footsteps ended my conversation with Danny, and with a hand on my shoulder, the voice behind the footsteps spoke.
“Hey Danny, it’s been awhile. Making a lot of hell up there?” Laughing he sat down beside me, taking my hand.
“I think you need to meet someone finally. She is looking forward to meeting you,” quickly kissing me on the cheek and lifting himself up, my fiancé went to find our little girl.
When he left I took the opportunity to speak to Danny again.
“So, she is a lot like you too, but she’s pretty,” winking at the grave I watched as the two most important people in my life came up to the grave.
“Jeremy, bring her over here,” I called, as Jeremy chased my little girl over to me.
“Who is Daniel?” her little voice asked when she finally landed in my lap.
“this is your Uncle Danny,” I smiled down at her when a huge grin covered her face.
“He’s name is the same as mine!” Danielle giggled and looked back to the grave.
“Hi Uncle Danny, My name is Danni, and I’m 6,” she spoke to the grave stone, the same as she would her grandmothers grave stone.
We sat and talked to Danny’s grave some more, before Jeremy finally grabbed my mine and Danni’s hands in each of his and lifting us up.
“Say bye to your Uncle Danny, Sweetie,” with a big smile and a wave Danielle whispered a bye as we walked away, leaving Danny in his resting place, where is body would lay forever, and the memory of him, never forgotten.
