We had sat up all night, talking about little things, laughing about stupid topics and occasionally a stolen kiss or two. The night sky soon began to dissolve and the sun began to rise. I had laid my head against Danny’s shoulder, his arm draped around my shoulder casually.
The sun’s rays reflected off the water, the sky changing into a rainbow of pinks, oranges, purples and blues, it was the most breath taking view you could imagine. Danny and I sat quietly, watching the sun rise was pure bliss. Danny kissed the top of my head as I sighed in content. I finally felt whole. After many years of hiding from life and being sheltered in the light of unhappiness I felt that my life had finally made peace within itself.
“Morning Lovebirds!” Jeremy laughed as I jumped at the sudden sound of his voice. Danny’s arm stayed in place as he lazily looked around at his brother, my own head soon turning to follow, my eyes gazing in the direction of Jeremy’s body.
His eyes widened, his mouth agape. Jeremy lifted a finger, pointing between the two of us. With a slow nod of Danny’s head Jeremy’s mouth grew into a broad grin, his eyes lighting up excitedly.
“About bloody time you two,” Jeremy’s grin blew wider, he sat down next to me and gave me a hug, following with casual slap on the back for Danny.
Almost as quickly as he sat down he lifted himself off the sandy floor, racing up to the tents behind us. Banging on my tent and Leo’s Jeremy began yelling for them to come out and be lively, not wrapped up in bed.
“It’s time for fun, it’s time for adventure, time for you to not be lazy,” Jeremy sang as he continued to thump his hands along the tents.
“Oh fuck off Jeremy, I’ll be out in a minute,” Lindsay’s voice broke Jeremy’s singing, which I was forever thankful for seeing as he sung like a cat being strangled.
Lindsay emerged from the tent, her usually beautifully done hair messily layered on top of her head. Leo soon crawled out of his own tent and sat with us around our freshly made fire.
The flames flickered, licking the firewood intensely. I sat with my head leading against Danny’s shoulder as I watched the fire. My eyes began to sting from the heat but I continued to stare, blinking a few times to try and cool off my eyes.
“I’m going to go get some more firewood,” Jeremy sung, jumping up from the sand and dusting off his butt. Leo decided that he would follow him and the two boys went off into the woods behind us, talking deeply about Megan Fox’s body.
“I may as well call up that horse riding place, see if they still have us booked in for this afternoon,” Lindsay stood up, brushed the sand off her jeans and crawled into Leo’s tent, looking for her phone.
Soon it was just Danny and I again, we both watched the fire dancing in front of us.
“Want to cross something else off the list?” Danny turned his head to face e, his eyes glowing mischievously behind his glasses. I looked at him, my face twisting with confusion.
“what did you have in mind?” I asked, my voice husky from the lack of sleep. Danny’s smile bloomed bigger as he pointed in the direction of a large spider sitting on the last piece of firewood.
Suddenly realising what Danny wanted to do I shook my head, no way was it happening…
I sat out the front of Jeremy’s tent as Danny rummaged around the sleeping bag, placing the spider that sat on the firewood inside the sleeping bag.
