“You two had sex,”

That was the last four words I expected to come out of Lindsay’s mouth when Danny and I walked back to the campsite 2 hours before the New Year rung in.

“Excuse me?” I asked, my face beginning to blush a bright shade of red. Danny smiled awkwardly and pointed towards the two boys kicking a footy in the ocean before running to join them. Traitor.

“Oh please, I can tell the ‘finally got some’ look from a mile away.” Lindsay laughed and slung her arm around me, pushing me to walk along the beach with her.

“I’m glad, even though he is my brother, that he finally got some,” She stopped walking and turned to face me, a hand on each of my arms.

“I’m even happier that he is happy, and you have done that. Thank you, I don’t think you realise how much that means to my family and I,” I smiled and wrapped my arms around Lindsay, a tear slid down my face.

“He makes me happy too,” Lindsay pulled out of the hug and wiped the tear from my face.

“Good, because if he didn’t I would beat the shit out of him,” Laughing we joined the boys around the fire after they accidently kicked the footy into the ocean, the waves taking away their fun.

“Beer?” Jeremy offered,  in his hand a bottle of beer, covered in icy water was extended towards me, his eyes however, were still locked onto the fire.

“Thanks,” I muttered quietly, grabbing the beer from his hand and sitting myself next to Danny.

“We only have half an hour left until the New Year guys,” Lindsay smiled, her eyes glancing around the circle slowly, as if taking in the content silence between her brothers, boyfriend and I.

“We should say one good thing that happened this year,” Leo suggested,  his eyes reflecting the ambers that jumped out of the flames. “I’ll go first,”

Leo adjusted himself on his log, placing a hand over Lindsay’s smaller one and smiled warmly towards her.

“The best thing that happened to me this year was moving in with this beautiful, yet dirty woman,” a chorus of laughter erupted when Lindsay punched Leo in the arm, causing him to flinch.

“I got a pretty good job,” Jeremy suggested, his shoulders rising in an unsure manner.

“Jeremy, I took you sky diving. That must have been cooler than getting a job,”

“Oh yeah, forgot about that,” a punch from Danny sent Lindsay over the edge in a fit of giggles. Four heads turned to look at me, which made me look down into the sand.

“I guess meeting you guys, and actually getting a social life and trusting people again,” Lindsay awed making everyone start laughing once again.

Eyes then began staring at Danny, who looked up from the stick in his hands. Pushing his glasses back onto his face he began to speak.

“The best moment for me was when I ran into this, cute yet weirdly quiet girl in a Chinese shop and giving her my number,”

“Dude that is really creepy, I don’t why that girl even stayed with you,” Jeremy piped in, a cheeky grin lining his face.
