The sounds of my phone vibrating woke me from my slumber, groaning I answered my phone without looking at the caller ID because my eyes could barely open.

“Wakey Wakey, hands off snakey,” Danny’s voice echoes through my phone. I let out another groan as his yelling nearly deafens me.

“What time is it?” I muster, my voice husky from the lack of awakeness.

“Time for you to get out of bed, come on. I’ll be there in 15 minutes, don’t dress up too much,”

With that the phone call was cut and my room was once again silent.

It had been a week since the kiss in the rain, and since I am too awkward to do anything about it nothing has been said. I still don’t know what’s going on in Danny’s head, but since he still wants to hang out with me I guess he can’t be too worried about it.

Danny was true to his word and was on my couch ready to go fifteen minutes after he hung up. In the last week Danny had been over enough that Dad just allows him to walk in when Danny feels the need to.

Dad and Danny sat on the couch, coffees in hand, watching me fumble around, looking for my other shoe.

“What are we doing today Danny?” I asked as I looked underneath the couch. “And have you seen my shoe?”

Dad’s laugher could be heard despite his attempted to hide it, Looking over at Dad I noticed the cheekiness in his eyes and realized he had the shoe. That and he was holding the shoe up.

Snatching the shoe off him I looked at Danny expectantly, waiting for him to answer.

“Something on the bucket list, seeing as we slacked off last week,” he took a breath and continued.

“And your shoe in on your foot,” Dad barked a laugh once again as I pulled a face at Danny and marched over to the door, my blonde hair swinging in the pony tail behind me.

The radio was the only thing that broke our silence in the car as we headed, to what I was guessing, into town. I had no idea what Danny had planned for today as I went through the bucket list in my head.

It couldn’t be a barbeque with the family, nor streaking naked down the street… could it be learning an instrument?

After we found a park we walked to the Bourke street mall, one of the busiest streets in Melbourne. A young group of girls walked past us and giggled as they made eye contact with Danny, it didn’t help that Danny winked as they walked past.

I couldn’t blame them though, he was very nice looking. Punching him in the arm we walked towards the famous Myer windows, my eyebrows raised in confusion.

“What are we doing here?” in response I only received “13” as he rushed me inside and to a makeup stand.

I was racking my brain as to what was number 13, nothing the girl was saying to me registered as she slathered my face with makeup and took me down to the basement, throwing clothes in my direction. It only occurred to me what we were doing as we walked past a mannequin once we were fully clothed and made up.

“Are we being mannequins in the Myer windows?” I squeaked. The Myer windows was a highlight of the Christmas season, and with all the windows but one set up with Christmas décor  which stopped people in their tracks.
