When he closed the door behind him and turned round, he found Lisbon sat on the couch, tears streaming down her face as she clutched his tshirt from the night before close to her; leaving the bag by the door, he sat next to her and took the brunette into his arms.
"Sssh, i'm here, i've got you" he murmured reassuringly.
"You left" she whispered through her tears.
"To get some of my stuff; i didnt think you'd want to be alone tonight"
"Please dont leave me"
"I told you, i'm all in"
"Sorry" she whispered, wiping her eyes with the tissue he gave her from the box on the coffee table.
"Dont be; you hungry?"
"Not really"
"You havent eaten much since breakfast"
"Dont feel like it"
"You need to though, for the baby"
"I know but...i'm not feeling great and..."
"Not feeling great how?" He questioned, feeling her forehead and finding a slight fever. "You need to drink something, get the fever down"
Quickly grabbing a glass of water, he waited for her to drink it before sending her back to the bedroom; as she crawled into the bed, he laid on top of the covers next to her and stroked her hair.
"It's been a long few days; you havent slept much, you havent eaten much either today and the drugs are still working its way out of your system. Try and get some sleep; i promise, i'm not going anywhere"
"Patrick...i dont feel good"
"I know you dont; i wish i could take it away for you. Your doctor said everything was fine with the baby and the drugs should be out of your system in the next couple of days; you just need to take it easy for a few days"
"I wanna feel like me again" she moaned, nuzzling her head into his hand resting on her cheek.
"And you will soon; it'll all be fine, i promised did i?"
"What if it all goes wrong?"
"We'll deal with it; try and get some sleep"
Slowly, Jane's soothing ministrations sent Lisbon into a somewhat peaceful sleep.
Three days later, it was Monday Morning and time for Lisbon to face her superiors; she still wasnt feeling well, the morning sickness kicking in with full vengance on top of the drugs leaving her system and she'd barely let Jane leave her side all weekend. In all honesty, she didnt know how she would get through the meeting but she had no choice; the sooner she faced the consequences, the sooner it would be one less thing to worry about; having made Jane promise to act normal and not fuss over her in the unit unless they were in her office with the blinds closed, they headed to the CBI building where he headed to the kitchen whilst she knocked on Minelli's door. She finally exited an hour later and headed to her office where Jane was sat on her sofa; shutting the door behind her, she took a seat next to him and curled into his side.
"How did it go?" He asked, running his fingers through her hair.
"Two weeks suspension for insubordination and breaking the window; then when i come back...it's desk duty"
"You told him?"
"I had no choice; he said i was looking green and i didnt feel too good in there"
"You do look green; can i get you anything?"
"No; i'm gonna head home. Cho's in charge; try and behave for him"
"Well, lucky for you, they dont have a case right now so i'll take you"
"Thanks but...i think i need some time to think and be alone, do you mind?"
"Course not; you go and get some rest and i'll see you later" he said, kissing her softly before she grabbed her bag and left.
The morning went by and they still hadnt caught a case so he spun by the local diner and picked up some burger and fries for them and headed over to Lisbon's; he let himself in and found her sat on the sofa, blanket over her and reading a book.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" She asked as he took a seat next to her.
"No case so brought you lunch" he said handing her the box.
"Thanks, you didnt have to though" she answered, taking a bite of her chicken burger.
"I wanted to; you need to keep your strength up"
"And you wanted to check up on me?" She asked, an eyebrow raised.
"Nothing wrong with that, is there?" He put back to her.
"No"
They'd just finished eating when Jane's cell rang; answering the call and then hanging up, he looked over at Lisbon apologetically.
"Caught a case?" She guessed, coming out more of a statement than a question.
"Yeah, try and get some sleep; i'll call you when i can"
"Okay; just...try and behave, for me?"
"Can't promise; call me if you need anything"
She nodded and leant into his embrace before he kissed her and reluctantly left; as soon as he shut the door behind him, Lisbon felt lonely. Depositing their rubbish into the trash can, she grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and headed to her bedroom. Having already changed into her sweats and tshirt when she got home, she climbed into the bed and drifted off to sleep rather quickly; it was only when her phone started ringing, did she awake from her slumber.
"Lisbon" she answered, tiredness lacing her voice, her eyes still closed.
"Hey sleeping beauty, you okay?" Patrick asked from the other end.
"Hmmm, you woke me"
"Sorry"
"S'okay, are you done?"
"Gonna be a late one; i'll see you in the morning"
"Need you; come here"
"I dont want to disturb you" he tried to protest.
"Need you" she whispered. "Bad dreams"
"Okay, i'll be there when i can; try and get some more sleep"
