Chapter Five-Leaving

The next morning I packed a small bag containing a couple pairs of jeans and t-shirts, a wad of cash, undergarments, and a coat for when it starts to get colder in a couple of weeks.

It was Friday, a work and training day.

I quickly took a shower and pulled on a pair of sweats and a t-shirt. I ran to Abby's room, flinging my hair up into a ponytail.

"Abby, wake up, honey." I gently shook her awake.

Her eyes opened and she yawned, rubbing her eyes. She gazed up at me and smiled sleepily.

"Hey Alice." Her wide blue eyes were full of innocence and I knew I had to take her with me tonight.

"Come on, I need to tell you something." I whispered gently and I slowly talked her into a sitting position.

Abby was only two when our parents were killed, her birthday wasn't until a few months so she's still five for a little bit longer.

"What is it," She asked with curiosity.

"We are leaving tonight. We're going away from this place. It'll be just you and me," I told her carefully.

"Are we going to find mommy and daddy," She asked, hopeful and it broke my heart.

She understood that our parents were here but she couldn't grasp what death meant. She believed that they had gone on a long trip and would be back soon.

"Yes, we're going to find mommy and daddy." I didn't have the heart to tell her that our parents were gone forever, it'd crush her little spirit.

She beamed and jumped into my lap, wrapping her arms tightly around my neck.

"Come on, we need to pack a bag for you," I told her after giving her a tight hug in return.

"Ok," She chirped happily and I felt bad for lying to her.

She zipped over to her closet and pulled out a pink duffle bag.

"What will I need," She asked me, tilting her head.

"Here, let me help you. Why don't you go get a few pairs of underwear and I'll get your clothes." I got up from the bed as she bounded over to her dresser, pulling out four lairs of underwear and stuffing them into the duffle bag.

I grabbed a few pairs of pants and a couple of shirts that were long sleeve since it'll be getting colder. I also grabbed her a coat.

I put the clothes into the bag and she ran over to me, hugging my torso.

"I love you, Alice," She said and I smiled down at her.

"I love you too, Abbs." I held her close to me, afraid to let go.

"Alright, I'll come by later tonight to leave. We have to be quiet Abbs. No one can know that we're leaving, ok?" I told her and she nodded vigorously.

"Ok, I've got to go to training." I said, giving her one last squeeze before I let go and left the room.

I walked to the training room, fear spiking inside my body. The Alpha was the training teacher.

I walked in, many members of the pack stretching. I found a spot in the room by myself and began stretching like the others. It was very vital to stretch before you started fighting because you could hurt something. We heal faster than humans but we're not like those werewolves in books where they heal instantly.

I know when we're in an actual fight that we won't have time to stretch but that's ok because it's ok to get injured during a real fight.

"Finally had the guts to come back after what happened last Friday?" Prissy appeared in front of me with her posse behind her.

I ignored her, willing myself not to argue with her. Last Friday she had provoked me and my wolf went out of control. I attacked her like I would have with a person the Alpha told me to kill. The Alpha pulled me off of we before I could snap her neck and I'd been punished. Prissy got away with it, of course.

"I'm talking to you, Bitch," She growled, stepping closer to me.

"Back up, Prissy, unless you want me to snap your neck this time," I snapped, an empty threat.

I couldn't kill her because one, I trying not to kill anyone else and two, because the Alpha would get pissed off.

"Are you threatening me, pup," She snarled and I looked her dead in the eyes.

I wouldn't show weakness.

"Yes and I'll go through with that threat if you don't leave me alone." I narrowed my eyes at her.

Prissy was one of those stuck up, bitchy, bullies who always thought it was funny to pick on people younger and less popular than her. I'd happened to be one of those people but I didn't put up with it.

"I'm telling the Alpha." She stomped her feet and huffed as she marched away with her group in toe who gave me lares before following her.

I continued stretching, knowing she wouldn't tell the Alpha because, she too, was scared of the Alpha. She didn't want to complain and have him angry at her.

"Get into pairs and begin practicing your kicks." the Alpha walked into the room.

His eyes locked on mine.

"Alice, you're with me," He snapped and I held back the urge to run.

The color drained from my face as I slowly made my way over to him. Had Prissy had the guts to actually tell him what I told her?

I hesitantly looked up at him and found him looking down on me. I wanted to shrink away from his hate-filled gaze but I stood in front of him until he spoke.

"Don't just stand there, start kicking as hard and fast as you can." He growled.

I held back a tremble and did as told.

The first few were weak and slow. Why did I have to do terrible the day the Alpha had me work with him?

"Higher, faster," He barked and I did my best to comply.

Why did I feel so weak today? Was it because of the fear I ahead towards the Alpha?

"I said higher." He snapped, grabbing my leg and pulling it upward as I swung around in an arch.

Pain burst into my leg but I hid the whimper wanting to spill from my lips.

He grabbed my leg again and again each time I came around to kick.

"What part don't you get of going higher," He snarled.

He'd been nothing but angry at me, how did he expect me to get better each time I feared to kick more and more because of his angry orders?

"I swear, if you mess this one up, you'll never leave to find your mate." He threatened and my wolf became wild with rage.

Before I could hold her back, she took control and swung a high kick and nicked him in the jaw. His head whipped to the side and everyone in the room gasped.

I shoved my wolf away and started stepping back, shaking with fear. I ran out of the room before the Alpha could react.

What had I done?
