Chapter Thirteen-The Howl That Could Be
I walked in from the field and stomped up to my room.
"I freaking hate Alphas!" I snarled to myself and ripped open my bedroom door.
I marched over to my bed and plopped myself down quite ungracefully.
"They're cocky and think they know everything! Well, you what? Get your head out of your ass and realize that you don't!" I growled and crossed my arms over my chest.
"You know, I'm glad that finally someone agrees with me." A soft voice says from my door way.
I look up, surprised, and saw the same girl from a few days ago who tried to apologize to me.
My lips pressed together, making a thin line.
"I thought I said I wouldn't accept your apology?" I said stiffly.
"I know and I understand that. I looked back at it and came up with the same results. I wouldn't accept anyone's apology who bullied me either. I realize that now." She said with her head down.
"Ok, so why are you here?" I snorted, my brows creasing in confusion.
"I just want you to know that if you ever need to vent or talk to someone, I'm always available." She murmured.
"Sure, whatever." I rolled my eyes and she began walking away.
As I looked back, I realize this is the first time I've ever been a bitch to someone. What scared me was that I sounded like Prissy.
I shot up, darting for the door way.
"Wait!" I called to her fading figure.
She slowly turned around, hope full in her eyes.
"Yes?" She asked tentatively.
"I'm sorry, I'm being a royal bitch. Please, can we start over?" I asked, praying that I can make up for my horrid behavior towards her.
She smiled, brightening at the idea.
"Of course!" She chirped and began making her way back to me, a little bounce in her steps.
I gave her a small smile, trying to do my best in accepting the fact that she had once bullied me.
"Please, come into my room so we can get better acquainted. I really could use a friend right now." I spoke softly and she nodded in understanding.
"I know about your sister." She whispered softly as we went back into my room.
We sat on the bed, crossing out legs.
"I think the whole pack may know by now. I can't decide if that was the most stupid choice I've ever made, or the best." I sighed, picking at nothing on my comforter.
"I understand what it's like to loose a loved one. It's hard and I know you miss your sister." She offered me a gentle, caring smile.
How could she have ever bullied me?
"The thing is, my parents were killed by rogues and that is exactly who I gave my sister to. I just didn't want the Aloha to be able to use her against me. I've been thinking ever since I give her to the rogues that she may have been better off with me than them, or perhaps it never really mattered because either way she'd get hurt." I confided in her and that was something I never did.
Maybe this girl was created to be my friend.
"I think you made the best decision, considering the circumstances. I know it may be hard but did the rogues seem rough at all?" She asked and as I thought about it, I began to shake my head.
"The girl didn't seem rough or mean at all, I can't say the same about the boy. I didn't really meet him but he did seem grateful that I saved him from the Alpha's bites." I told her and she thought about what I said.
"All you can do is hope that she is in good hands and from what I'm hearing, they seem pretty nice." She looked at me.
"I hope you're right." I sighed again.
Just as I was about to break the silence between us, a howl ripped through the air.
Both of our heads snapped up and we instantly stood, darting down the stairs and outsides to where the howl came from.
"Who do you think it is?" I asked her.
"I recognize most pack members' calls but I don't know this one." She admitted, shaking her head.
My heart clenched as I realized that this could possibly be one of the rogues that had Abby.
I turned to the girl but she was already looking at me, thinking the same thing before I could say a word.
"Before I leave, what is your name?" I asked.
"Amber." She replied.
"I'm Alice, as I'm sure you know already. It was wonderful meeting you but I must find out if this is one of Abby's watchers." I said, not knowing what else to call the rogues.
I leaped in the air, immediately shifting into my wolf and I started to run.
I ran with all my might, trying to beat the Aloha or any other curious pack member. I had already wasted enough time and couldn't afford to loose anymore.
I'm coming Abby, I'm coming if it's you! I thought to myself, wanting to send the thought to her but knew that it was impossible. Abby was considered a rogue now since she left the pack boundaries.
