As she walked away he was struck with her personality. Maybe after dinner they would get to why she came, though he wasn’t in a hurry to find out. He liked her company and was enjoying having someone to talk to. Maybe this week he would relax and not work on a story, he might actually enjoy a little down time.
He was about half way through with dinner when she walked back in the kitchen.
“ Can I help with Anything?”
“ Naw, I’m almost done, you relax. After all you are a guest.”
“ More like an intrusion, you came here for peace and quiet didn’t you?”
“ You’re not an intrusion Olivia. I’m actually enjoying your company. It’s a good thing since the reports are saying it may be raining longer than first thought.”
“What does that mean?”
“Well I checked the weather forecast yesterday, it said they were expecting 24 hours of rain, then it would be done. Which usually would put it dry enough to get out in about 4-5 days. Now they are saying 4-5 days of constant rain. You may be stuck here longer than you planned.”
“Oh well were already here. The office will just have to do without me until we can get out. I hope I brought enough food for Rebel.”
“No worries, if we run out of anything after the rain stops, we can boat over to the nearest town. It’s about 10 minutes by boat. Just because we can’t drive out doesn’t mean we are completely stuck.”
“That’s a relief. Wouldn’t want to be stuck in all this quiet with no way to leave.”
“ So should we go over why you had to come here over dinner or wait?”
“ I know that’s why I’m here Xander. But if you don’t mind waiting, I don’t. I knew your Uncle Lyle for most of my teen years. He was friends with my dad and that’s why when I joined the firm he brought the case to me. I would like to enjoy the quiet for a while before we get into all the legal issues.”
“All I know of this Lyle person is what happened between him and my father. Even with that it’s only what my Aunt Marie has told me, as my father never spoke of him. We’ll wait a while, I’m really not in a hurry and would enjoy a glass of wine with dinner, how about you?”
“That does sound wonderful Xander.”
Xander opened a bottle of red wine and poured two glasses, she obviously wasn’t in a hurry, he wondered if that meant this wasn’t bad news after all. As he glanced over at Olivia he smiled, she defiantly wouldn’t be hard to look at, she was absolutely beautiful, he suspected inside as well as out.
Livie caught him watching her, she smiled and wondered if he thought she was pretty, or just average like most men? Olivia stop thinking that way! This is business, which really sucked because he was hot, and sweet. Shaking her head she smiled into her wine and leaned down to scratch Rebel.
Xander watched her with the dog as he finished the salad, setting down his wine, he started to carry things over to the table.
“Are you sure I can’t help Xander?”
“You know you can help.”
“Really? How?”
“Come sit at this table, look as beautiful as you already do , and enjoy dinner.”
She laughed and sat at the table, so he was a charmer too, this could be harder than she thought. As she took he first bite she sighed, so he was a great cook as well. For a woman who was use to take out in the office or a drive-thru on the way home, this was heaven!
