Texas Summer Rain

Chapter 15

Georgia and Mitch looked up as they entered the room and could both tell something was wrong.

Georgia was the first to speak. “ Ok guys what’s going on? Something is clearly wrong.”

 Alexander sighed and motioned for them all to sit down while pulling Liv down next to him and wrapping his arms around her. Once they sat down he started to explain. 

 “ First of all you need to know we have an Aunt. Marie. She’s helped raise me and has been the only family I knew up until now. My dad died last year and it’s just been us since. She called me to tell me her doctors are worried, but she hasn’t said why. They have requested us to come in on Monday for test results. For some time her health has been rocky. That’s what made me make the decision to move her here to where she grew up. This was all before Liv and I met of course. I had already spoken to a real estate agent here in Dallas and looked online. Liv and I will meet her tomorrow to look at the properties I had requested. After dinner with Liv’s dad tomorrow night we will be flying back to be with Aunt Marie. It was Aunt Marie that called a few minutes ago to ‘check in’ but she sounds off .. I think she knows something. Which I can’t press for  until I’m there with her.”

Mitch cleared his throat and said “ I want to go with you. I can clear my schedule at the office and get the jet to fly us there. Georgie?” 

She shook her head causing the tears in her eyes to fall and said “ Of course we’ll go with you.”

   The next morning Alex & Liv met with the realtor and looked over  all three ranches. Alex was watching Liv’s reaction closely on each one to discover which one she would love.  After they toured the final one Alex asked the realtor to give them a few minutes and took Liv by the hand pulling her out on the upper deck. 

 “ Liv, what do you think? Which one stands out?”

   She turned in his arms and looked out over the sprawling ranch below.. It wasn’t huge like the others just over 500 acres, with a stable and cattle barn.. The log cabin style house was more like a big lodge, 6 bedrooms , 5 baths, a cook’s dream kitchen, two offices and best of all a small little house 2 bedroom house which could be perfect for his aunt. She smiled up at him and said “ I love this one Alex! It’s perfect!! And that little house would be perfect for your aunt! That was she has her own privacy but is still right here too!”  

    Alex smiled down at her and kissed her softly. “ My thoughts exactly! It’s not so big but more than enough room to raise a family.” 

     She couldn’t believe he was mentioning raising a family, they had barely begun their relationship, but she suppose everything else had been moving quickly between them. She smiled up at him and said “ Yes it would be perfect.” 

    Alex called to the realtor and said “ How quickly can we close?” 

     “On this property? The sellers are interested in a quick sale. Their asking price is $350,000 but I can talk them down some.”
