I rang the doorbell and waited for Lori to open the door I'm always pretty nervous to do this because I see myself as quite tough but there is one person who is my weak spot. It happens to be my best friends brother. Luckily for me Lori opened the door.

"Hey Paradise, how are you?"
"I'm breathing is that enough for an answer?" I asked.
"For you it is." She smiled.
"So what are we going to do?"
"Just hang out in my room. I need a day off."
"Sounds perfect."
"Brett's around, but ignore him he's not that important."
"Right ignore him." I mumbled.
"What is with you? You are like a a softy around him. You don't like him do you?"
"No. I don't like him." I said.
"No she loves me Lori. I just have to snap my fingers and she my puppy." Brett smiled as he walked in without a shirt.

I was distracted by his abs.

"Say yes." Brett smiled as his face was inches from mine.
"Yes. I mean no. I'm no ones puppy." I said.

Brett and Lori laughed.

"I will never be your puppy you are incredibly annoying and hot at the same time. Please put on a shirt or not of course I mean I'm not complaining I really need to stop talking don't I?" I said and looked at Lori.

She nodded and pulled me to her room. I fell down on her bed.

"How does he do that? I mean I'm sarcastic and awesome but that makes me ramble. Like is he even human." I said.
"No he's not." she smiled an took out snacks.

We laughed and started our evening together.

"I'm going to get something to drink. You want something?" I asked.
"No but watch out for Brett he's a plan and I don't like men with a plan." Lori said tossing a piece of popcorn in her mouth.

I walked down and walked straight to the kitchen. I had to stay focussed. I felt a breath brush against my neck and froze.

"Sorry just coming through." Brett said.

I tried to focus but I failed.

"You okay?" He asked.
"I'm hot, god, I mean I'm good." I said and mentally facepalmed myself.

Brett snickered and left me alone. I took the glass and went upstairs.

"What took you so long?"
"I'm the worst."
"You did something stupid." She concluded.
"No I met Brett in the kitchen and then I made a fool of myself."
"He has that effect on you." Lori sighed.
"See that's my problem he shouldn't." I said.
"What's your plan."
"To go tell him to stop whatever he's doing."
"Because that's going to end well." Lori smiled.
"Yes because I'm cool and sarcastic. I'm not some awkward loser."
"There is my girl!" She cheered.
"I'm going to tell him." I said and walked out. Brett was shirtless in his room across the hall.

I slammed the door shut.

"Tomorrow. I'm going to tell him tomorrow." I said.
"Yeah sure." She smiled

I laughed and fell back on the bed with her. I forgot about the whole Brett thing as I snook out the house at 5 am. I was quite edgy. My parents thought I was the perfect daughter with the perfect grades but boy if they knew. I snook into my room change into my pj's and laid down for five minutes. My alarm went off.

"Wake up my beautiful girl."
"Hi mom." I smiled and got dressed.

I skipped down.

"Are you wearing that." My father asked.
"Good morning."
"Good morning, Paradise."
"I'm off to school."
"I didn't hear you come home."
"It was early, I fell asleep at Lori's place."
"That girl is trouble."
"You mean the one keeping me out of trouble we study together, volunteer at school. You should be adoring her. Speaking of volunteering, Mom, Dad, have a nice day." I smiled.
"Be careful honey."
"I will." I smiled.

I arrived at school and met up with Lori, not volunteering but mostly hanging out at school.

"How are they still buying that? Have you ever volunteered?" Lori smiled.
"I have volunteered." I smiled.
"For what?" She asked.
"For having the best points."
"I don't get it, you are always busy with something else and somehow you get a straight A on every test."
"I'm simply smarter than everyone." I smiled.
"Brett 12 o'clock."
"Why would you say that?"
"Because you're smarter than me until my brother is around."
"No it's not."
"Hello there green ray of the rainbow." Brett smiled next to my ear.

I giggled but pulled myself together.

"No!" I said.
"No?" Brett asked surprised.
"I'm done with that mind game you're playing with me you're doing that on purpose."
"What am I doing on purpose. Be cute?"
"Don't sass flirt with me, that's my game. I invented that."
"How's that working out for you?"
"Great until you didn't fall for that."
"You're wrong there sunshine. I fell for you. I just love teasing you. You can't handle it. You're snarky attitude is meaningless as I do this." He smiled and ghosted his fingers over my arm.

I felt a chill run over my back.

"You love my game. You're just too cool to admit it."
"No Brett I don't you're driving me crazy. Please be honest with me."
"Okay. I will."
"Good." I said and crossed my arms.
"I love it how you don't care. You dyed your hair green to stand out. You wanted people to notice you. You have the best taste in style and music. I love it how I'm a foot taller than you so you often ask me to grab stuff above you. I love how you're the coolest and snarkiest girl I know until I'm the one talking to you. You grow weak in your knees and your heart beats faster. I love how your eyes are a mix of chocolate and wood. They shine bright in the moonlight. I love every inch of you and you make me vulnerable." Brett admitted.

I blushed and didn't know what to say.

"I - I never knew you felt that way." I blushed.
"I know that's why I told you and I don't expect it back. I just wanted to be honest with you."
"Brett?" I smiled and stopped him.
"Yeah?" He asked.
"I love you too." I smiled.

Brett smiled and picked me up and pecked my lips. I smiled, my arms around his neck.

"Okay you have to let go now." Brett smiled.

I pouted.

"I've got Lacrosse training. Meet me here at lunch okay?"
"Okay." I giggled.

Brett left. I turned to Lori. She was trying not to laugh.

"What?"
"Nothing." She denied.
"Come on spill it out."
"Okay." She imitated me.
"No that's not funny." I said.
"You're right it's hilarious." She laughed.
"Stop it." I laughed.
"I'll think about that."

We left laughing.
