Isaac's PoV:

I felt broken my mom died and my father changed he blamed me for my mother's dead. I was a rather quiet kid in school. No one noticed me I get through the day with fears around every corner and loneliness in every second. I walked to my place below the bleachers. I liked it out there it was quiet and when the boys played lacrosse I could watch them. I don't like boys like that, I mean I don't think I do, do I? I was lost in my thoughts when a hand rested on my shoulder. It surprised me and I jumped 2 feet in the air.

"Easy it's just me. I'm Jackson."
"Of course, I mean I know. You're Jackson Whittemore the captain of the lacrosse team everyone knows who you are." I rambled.
"I noticed you hang out here a lot on your own."
"You noticed? Wh- B- But I'm a nobody." I stumbled over my words.
"I doubt that. In fact, why don't you come sit with me at lunch? I would love to get to know you better." Jackson smiled.
"I don't know, what if your friends don't like me I mean I'm just some kid that rambles all the time so this will end in 3..2..1." Isaac looked down keeping himself from rambling again.
"If someone disagrees, they have to deal with me." Jackson smiled.
"R-really?" I blushed.
"And just so you know I love to hear you ramble." He whispered in my ear.

A smile spread across my face. Jackson helped me on my feet and we talked our way through the day. I felt better and was happy when I got home. My father had to ruin the day for me. He beat me up and put me in the freezer. I thought of Jackson the whole time he pulled me through. I left as soon as I could. I put my stuff in the locker. Jackson leaned against the locker next to mine.

"Hey there stranger I thought you would be at my practice before school." Jackson smiled.
"Sorry I forgot." I mumbled and hid my face.
"Isaac?" Jackson asked concerned and forced me to look at him.

Jackson studied the bruises on my face. His finger traced the outline of the bruise. I flinched.

"Isaac who did this?" He asked in shock.
"My father but I'm okay." I mumbled.
"You're not fine Isaac. Why is he doing this to you?" Jackson asked.
"It doesn't matter." I said and walked away.
"Hey Isaac did your daddy spank you again?" Some idiot laughed.

I just hid behind my books. Great for social anxiety.

"Hey! Stop that." Jackson shouted and hit the kid.

I was surprised that Jackson protected me. Jackson kicked the crap out of the kid. I wanted to stop him but I was scared so I just stood there.

"I'm sorry!" The kid cried out.
"Anyone else got something to say!?" Jackson asked mad.

Everyone stepped back. The kid's friends helped him up. I backed up as well. Jackson noticed and calmed down.

"Isaac. I'm sorry." Jackson sighed.
"Why did you do that?" I asked.
"He hurt you. I couldn't let him do that. Isaac you are a beautiful guy but you have to let me protect you because those losers have hurt you long enough." Jackson explained.
"Can we just go somewhere where there are no other people? I just want to be alone." I sighed.
"Oh okay, we can do that just follow me I know a place." Jackson took my hand and we walked to the bleachers.
"This is my place." I smiled.
"From now on it's our place." Jackson smiled.

I blushed a bit.

"Actually I've got to do something, are you going to be okay?" Jackson asked.
"Yeah." I sighed.

Jackson placed a kiss on top of my head. He looked at me and then walked out of my sight. I sat there a while before going to class. Jackson was nowhere to be seen. I thought it was odd but there was no time to investigate because I had to be home. I arrived and saw an ambulance taking away my dad and Jackson being taken by the cops. I looked at him with tears welling up in my eyes.

"Isaac!" He shouted.

I wasn't sure how to respond.

"Kid? Are you alright?" The sheriff asked.

I nodded.

"If you need anything I'm one call away." He said.
"Actually sir uh there is something I wanted to ask you, can I watch the investigation." I asked.
"I'm sure we'll fix something." He said.
"Thank you." I  smiled.

I watched from behind a one-way mirror.

"Jackson you tried to kill Mister Lahey, why?"
"Why? Have you seen what that creep does to his son? I shouldn't be here. He should." Jackson shouted.
"Calm down, so you suggest that mister Lahey hit his own kid?"
"I'm not suggesting it, I'm telling you. That creep is kicking the crap out of his son. No one was doing anything about it so I thought I'd take care of it. Isaac would never hurt a fly, so I had to protect him." Jackson said.
"Why didn't Isaac say something about it?"
"My guess, because his father is all he has left. He lost his mom he lost his brother and losing his father would leave him alone. Isaac doesn't deserve this. Isaac is a great guy. He is broken but I'm trying to fix him. I don't regret what I did. Isaac needs to be safe, if he is safe, then I will behave." Jackson said.
"Is this true?" the officer next to me asked.

I nodded and looked down.

"We can help you Isaac. The pain will be over soon I promise." He smiled.
"Can I see Jackson?" I asked.
"Sure." He smiled and went in to talk with the sheriff.

They both signaled me to come in. I stepped in and Jackson stood up. I hugged him.

"It's okay. He won't hurt you anymore." Jackson hushed.
"Thank you." I whispered and looked in his eyes.

The smile on his face said enough. This was true.
