Chapter 19: A Little Persuasion

I wrap the bandages around my arms covering the new set of marks. Nobody could know I did this.

Shoving the rest of the bandages in the corner I sigh and walk out of my room. Uncle Mikey was playing video games and Uncle Raph was playing against the old game machine.

Uncle Don's lab was closed meaning he was working and Grandpa was nowhere to be found.

Plus Dad was out on patrol so I had a good chance to be alone.

"I'm going out for a walk.." I mutter to Uncle Raph as I pass him. He stopped playing the game and turns to me.

"Can I join you?" He asks. I close my eyes and sigh tucking my hood over my head more. I couldn't say no cause I've asked to be alone a lot recently.

I nod and he follows tucking his sais in his belt. "Mikey I'm walking with Mia! Be back later!" He yells as we walk out of the lair.

We walk in silence as rats scurried by our feet and the small sound of 'drip, drop' could be heard as water dripped down into the old sewers.

Finally as we turn down a tunnel Uncle Raph speaks. "You alright? You seem quiet and distant a lot of the time now."

I glance at him from out of my hoodie and his bright green eyes stare at me with concern but with a kind softness. I had never seen Uncle Raph this way. He's usually tough.

I sigh and kick a pebble. It clacks against the concrete floor and echoes along the tunnel. "I'm fine." I say bluntly.

He stays silent for a bit but finally speaks, "Mia, follow me I want to show you something."

I clench my fists and sigh again, following him. We walk for a while, Uncle Raph in the lead until we come to a manhole cover.

He lifts it up and peeks out before jumping up and holding a hand out to me. I take it and he pulls me up, grunting a little.

I finally realize where we are and gape a little at Uncle Raph. "Aren't I not supposed to be above ground?" I ask. He shrugs and smirks a little.

"As long as you don't tell fearless I will take you up here as much as you want." He says.

Smiling slightly I hug him. "Thanks.."

He pats my shell, covered by my hoodie and I pull back. "Tonight we're gonna have a Uncle Niece Date. Just me and you." He says.

I look at him puzzled. "A what?"

"It's where we just hang out.. I don't know! Come on let's just go have fun!" He says. I smile lightly and pull my sleeves down as they were starting to pull up.

Jumping up onto the roof top Uncle Raph looks down at me as I start climbing he rungs of a nearby ladder.

Once on top Uncle Raph bends down. "What are you doing?" I ask.

"Oh come on, I can't give my niece a piggy back ride?" He asks smirking a little.

I scoff, "You can't. I am a 16 year old that weighs probably about 125 pounds, And you want to give me a piggy back ride?"

"Mikey wants piggy back rides all the time and he weighs more then you. So yeah I can."

Sighing again I gently get on his back as he lifts me up. "Hold on." Uncle Raph says. I wrap my arms carefully around his neck before he runs across the roof, jumping.

I close my eyes as the wind rustles my hoodie. Uncle Raph was pretty fast cause soon he sets me down in front of a small Japanese restaurant.

"Uh, Uncle Raph we can't go in there." I say nervously. My skin itches for a new set of pain as the thoughts of me being a monster rush back, I have to hold back my tears as they start to water.

He just opens the door and walks in. My eyes widen and I quickly run in after him to get him out.

But nobody sits at the tables just a small, plump man in the center surrounded by a kitchen and dining bar.

"Ah, Raphael welcome. And who is this new lady?" The man asks.

"This is my niece Mia," Uncle Raph says. "Can we have two pizza guoyzas please Mr. Mirakami?" Uncle Raph asks.

Mr. Mirakami nods and begins chopping up some ingredients. Uncle Raph takes a seat at the bar and I sit down next to him, finally taking off my hood.

"So Mia, tell me why your soul feels so troubled." Mr. Mirakami says. My body stiffens and I instantly regret taking my hood off. Fidgeting with my hands I resist the urge to cut.

"I'm afraid I don't know what you mean." I respond holding back my fear and urge.

Uncle Raph thanks Mr. Mirakami for the food as he places two plates of what looks like a dumpling in front of Uncle Raph and I. I thank him and begin eating.

It was delicious but it didn't stop Mirakami's next question.

"I may be blind but I can always sense when a soul is troubled. So tell me why is yours?" He asks.

Uncle Raph just eats buts pays attention. He probably thinks Mr. Mirakami will get me to tell them what's wrong.

"Nothing I feel fine." I say eating another pizza guoyza. The pepperoni and vegetables blended perfectly together with the cheese and small sauce.

Mr. Mirakami smiles and turns back to cooking while Uncle Raph looks a little stressed. But only a tiny bit.

I would not tell anyone what was wrong. It would take a lot more then a kind man, food, and walks to get it out of me.

Lol Sorry if it was too short for some. But it got to 974 words so I take that as long. Anyway this next week I will be having Spring break. And I am gonna take it.

So I will not be updating. Sorry! You guys prob hate me now!

But I will update the first Friday after next week. I promise anyway have a good day and hope you enjoyed :)
