Chapter 21: New Enemy

Mia's POV

"Dad?" I call out to the darkness. My head hurt and I could hear my own heart pounding.

Silence enveloped me and my fear finally kicks in. "Dad?! Where are you?!" I call out again. I try to move, but my wrists and ankles were chained to something.

I growl and yank them, testing their strength. Sure enough they held on.

I barely even notice the girl standing in the dark, watching me struggle with a smile.

Leo's POV

I groan as my heavy eyelids flutter open. I was in a dusty concrete room with an iron door. My arms and legs were chained to the wall and I didn't see Mia anywhere.

"Mia?" I call out. Silence responds to me and I know I need to get out. So I yank on the chain as hard as I can but it doesn't budge.

"Nice try Leo, but it's not going to work." The voice of a woman I know too well echoes through the speakers somewhere I couldn't see.

"Karai! Let me out!" I yell.

Her cackling could be heard as a TV lowers from the ceiling. Half of it shows Karai's face in some room and the other half shows Mia trying to yank the chains off herself.

"Like Father like Daughter am I right Leo?" Karai says with a grin.

I growl and thrash around in the chains, as if they would magically come off.

"Karai if you touch her, I will cut you slowly and painfully." I spit at the screen. She laughs again and spins around in some chair.

"Oh I won't be touching her. I sort of needed a test for a new addition to my family. And this just seemed like the perfect chance." She says.

A girl appears out of the darkness on Mia's screen and walks to face Mia. "You see my daughter here wanted to prove herself to me. So why not have her torture your own daughter?" Karai says.

I yell and try to yank the chains off again. Karai just laughs.

"And you get to watch."

Mia's POV

"Who the shell are you?!" I yell at the girl. She stands there smirking at me. Her black hair was long in the front and cut short in the back with blonde at the ends. And her overall outfit was made of armour. The thing that chilled me the misread her eyes. They were a green with hints of gold. And they seemed to not hold any emotion.

"Name's Lillian. But you don't really care. And please be silent, my mother and your father will be joining us shortly." She says. I growl and try to yank the chains off once more.

She was right though. Soon enough this older girl that looked just like Lillian walked in. My father towing behind her with several guards around him.

"I was going to let you watch in your cell but Thought it would be better in person." The lady says to my father. He growls and yanks another chain.

"Lilian once I get Leo here set up you can do what you want to do." The lady says.

"Karai, let my daughter go. Do what ever you want with me, just let her go." My father begs as they start attaching his chains to the wall. The lady named Karai thinks for a bit and shakes her head.

"No."

My dad looks scared and tries to persuade her some more butt doesn't work.

"Please! Let me take her place." He yells. Karai just laughs and sits down in a chair.

"Sorry Leo my decision has been made."

Dad looks at me, "Mia, it will be okay. Your uncles are probably on their way now." He says. I just smile.

"Dad it's okay, I can do this." I say reassuringly.

Karai then snaps her fingers and Lilian gets to work. She takes off my hoodie, revealing my body. I felt weird with the cold air tickling my shell. Then she starts to move for my bandages. "Knowing that your father has them I doubt their an injury." Lilian spits at me.

My eyes widen. "No! Please leave them on, I do have an injury there." I say. Lilian looks at me for a bit, her hand hovering over my bandages. If she took them off my secret would be out for everyone to see.

Suddenly she rips them off and I close my eyes, not wanting to see dad's reaction.

"Mia?" I hear my dad say. It seemed distant.

Opening my eyes I see Lilian staring at my cuts with fascination while my Dad looks shocked.

Karai smiles and gets up coming to my cuts and looking at them. "Well look at that. Seems like she already tortures herself." She says gently tracing her fingers over them.

I flinch at her cold touch and tears threatened to pour. "Lilian continue with your plans." Karai says taking her hand off and walking back to my father.

Lilian shakes herself out of her daze and begins smirking again. "So Mia have you ever heard of drowning?" Lilian asks me.

"Who doesn't?" I spit back. She smirks and gestures for the guards to press a button. They press it and a glass tank rises from the ground underneath me.

I gulp and look to my dad but he still seems in shock.

"It will be alright.. it will be alright.." I mutter to myself.

If my uncles didn't get here there would be one family member dead and another broken.
