Chapter 16: A New Kind of Pain

Mia's POV

The searing pain spread to my stomach fast and I curled up in my bed clutching it. "Dad!" I yell.

It had been about 2 years since I ran away and today I had a sudden pain in my lower body that spread to my stomach.

He comes in and looks at me confused and worried. "Woah, what's wrong Princess?" He asks kneeling down next to my bed to help me.

"My stomach hurts.." I say as the pain increases making it feel like knives cutting into me.

I whimper and close my eyes tightly hoping that will ease the pain. It didn't. And my Dad picks me up quickly taking me to Donnie's lab.

"Donnie! My Princess is bleeding!" He yells. I look at him confused but see blood in his hands.

Uncle Don comes in and looks worried but then lightens up and tells me to go to the bathroom and take two painkillers.

So I hurriedly go to the bathroom and take the painkillers.

Soon a knock could be heard and Kayla comes in. She hands me sweatpants and some kinda pad looking thing. "Don't worry I'm here to help." She says.

Leo's POV

"Don't worry Leo I'll go help her while Donnie explains to you." Kayla says before walking to the bathroom with sweatpants and other things.

I look at Donnie with my arms folded against my plastron and I raise an eyebrow at him to help explain why my baby girl was bleeding.

"Leo, you said Mia was a human baby before she was dumped into the mutagen?" He asks. I nod and he continues.

"Human girls have a reproductive system that involves bleeding once hitting the age of 12 or older. But most start at twelve. Mia has just simply gotten her first period." He says.

I look at him confused at what it was and he sighs.

"Her period is a sign telling her that her body is maturing and ready to start having children. But of course they don't fully get to have children until a certain age like above 20. The Period stays with her most of her life until she's old. And she gets it once a month and it should last a week." He says.

I finally understand and my eyes widen. "She's gonna get these every month for the rest of her life?" I ask. Donnie nods and I look at the bathroom door sadly. "That has gotta suck.."

"It's a part of life Leo. Kayla gets them too I bet."

I sigh and head to the kitchen with Donnie so he could explain some more.

Mia's POV

"Thanks Kayla.." I mutter as I straighten my sweatpants out.

"No problem Mia. Also don't worry, You only have to wear sweatpants and underwear when your on this. Don't forget the tips I gave you too." She says.

I smile and nod before grabbing a towel and carrying it out of the bathroom to my room. Kayla said if I slept with a towel underneath me in the night it would catch anything that leaked.

So I unfolded it from it's square form and put it down as a rectangle on my bed.

The pain had stopped. But Kayla said it would come back and if it did to go to Uncle Don. She also said that this would only happen once a month for a week. So she was going to bring supplies over soon.

I sigh and head out to the kitchen to find something sweet to eat. I was suddenly craving ice-cream and loads of chocolate.
