Unknown to Maine, before Richard left for Singapore, he made his presentation to the upper management of VM Builders which includes its president and CEO, Mr. Vicente Mendoza.
The top executive was very impressed at what he saw.
"Congratulations Richard, you have a very promising system or platform or whatever you call it. How do we participate? And we want a starring role, we're very much interested in becoming the lead company in the private sector."
Richard is in a quandary. When they scheduled this presentation, he did not know yet the existence of the marriage certificate in NSO. If they push through with what Mr. Mendoza wants, it will appear like he's giving undue advantage to his father in law if their marriage turns out to be valid. Or vice versa, it will appear that Mr. Mendoza is favoring his son-in-law. He has not brought up this topic to his partners either because they too, were counting on this partnership to push through.
"Sir, can I talk to you for a minute in private? There's an important matter that I need to discuss with you."
"Sorry, but I need to leave now for another meeting outside of the office. How about tomorrow even if it's Saturday? You can also update me on the favor that I ask you to do."
"It's my turn to apologize. I'm off to the airport now. I'm leaving for Singapore tonight and won't be back until probably Monday night."
"No problem, call me as soon as you get back. I can't wait for this to happen. Pa'no have a safe trip na lang?"
Ganyan pa rin kaya ang sasabihin n'yo pag nalaman n'yo ang connection natin?

Day 0 of Absence
He must be in transit now. Nakalimutan niya lang sigurong i-send yung flight details niya. She only saw him briefly this morning. He was in a hurry to leave because of last minute meetings and according to him, a very important presentation in the afternoon. It's now past midnight. While Maine is waiting for Richard's message, she whiled away her time recording her video for her mom.
She just finished recording the video in her tablet when her phone lighted up with a message. She excitedly opened it when she saw who the sender was.
"Hi! Arrived safely in Singapore. I'm off to my apartment now. Take care."
Walang 'I miss you?'. Di bale may 'take care' naman.

Day 1 of Absence - Saturday, at the townhouse.
"Good morning! Good morning! Good morning!" Maine greeted Ate Kai who's having her coffee and catching up with her social media accounts.
"Ilang araw na yatang maganda ang gising mo. Eh diba wala ngayon si Tisoy? Akala ko nasa Singapore?"
Maine's steps were light as she prepares her own coffee. "He already sent a message past midnight that he had arrived safely."
"Ang haba ng buhok mo teh! Abot hanggang labas oh! Maupo ka nga dito at mag-usap tayo nang masinsinan. Ano na bang status n'yo? At huwag mong sasabihin na 'it's complicated' at sasapakin na kita talaga!"
She looks up dreamily. "Hmmm.... Getting to know each other."
Muntik nang maibuga ni Kakai ang kape niya. "Pambihira! Halos hindi kayo mapaghiwalay ngayong linggong 'to, tapos 'Getting to know each other lang?' Huhulaan ko bes, ikaw ang may idea n'yan 'no? Umaandar na naman ang pagiging sigurista mo."
