"It's perfect and nothing you ever say will stop me from always addressing you and Storm as that."

I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose. I turned away from it and let the cold wind that was blowing through King City cool off my flaming red cheeks.

If you ignore it, maybe it'll just go away and someone else can deal with it. That would be a dream come true, but I highly doubt it'll happen, besides I kind of like hanging out with it anyway.

I peeked out of the corner of my eye and groaned. It was still there. "Charlie, you're my best friend and all, but seriously? A ship name? Ship names only work for fictional characters. Do I look fictional to you?"

"Charlie?" he asked, frowning and looking thoroughly confused. "I'm sorry, my name is Chellie. Didn't I tell you that? So get with it, Colly."

"My name is Coal!" I shouted. "That is what my parents named me when I was born, not Colly."

Charlie raised his eyebrows at me and crossed his arms across his green spandex covered chest. "Any louder and all of King City will know your identity."

I rolled my eyes and looked out at the city, from where we were, on the top of the Mars building patrolling the midnight skies, we could see almost all of King City. Most of it was dark, but downtown was lit up like it was having a party.

That spot of bad weather we had last night was actually from my beloved fiancée. Charlie confessed that he egged Molly on to make my night absolutely miserable. Apparently, there is something hilarious about a soaking wet Coal.

They no longer showed me any mercy from their endless teasing now that several months have separated me from my horror story with Red, Molly's father.

A few years ago before I was even in high school, I started working undercover for Red by playing a super villain known to the public as Headphones. I worked for years to get rid of as many super villains as I could, not knowing that Red forced a young super girl, Elora, to take down all the superheroes, starting with my brother, Anti Gravity.

She never got past my brother, I made sure of it.

Shortly after that, I found out that Red was planning on taking over the city, and since he was First-In-Command of the Board of Heroes and Villains, no one suspected him until the last second. Taking down the strongest super nearly killed me and had left me weakened for several weeks. To top it off, the entire time I was getting new powers, invisibility, flight and an energizing spark.

In the heat of the moment, the Board decided to award my heroics by replacing Red with me. At seventeen and a half, I was the youngest First-In-Command. If a power of mine wasn't being mature beyond my age, I would have been too young to handle it.

But even with that ability, sometimes I'm so overwhelmed I have no idea what to do.

I shook the thoughts out of my head and turned to my best friend of forever. "So, any news on the missing girl, Jane?"

Charlie shook his head. "Nothing. Her neighbors didn't see anything unusual. She left for work one day and that was it, she never came back. I tried finding out who her family is but there was no record."

I chewed on my lip and sighed. "Keep searching."

"I know it's our job to rescue people, but why do you care so much about Jane?"
