I scowled and shoved Gust away from me. I absolutely hate being manhandled. I straightened my shirt and stood up taller. "What do you want, Gust?"
"Where did you hide WhiteStreak?" he asked. He gritted his teeth and actually looked like he was trying to be civil.
I frowned and looked around, hoping Anti Gravity was there to tell me if he knew anything about this. Right. He's gone. I turned back to Gust and shook my head. "I didn't do anything with WhiteStreak. If she was here, I would have known about it. She's probably at home-"
"She's gone," he snapped, stepping closer to me and losing any pretend civility.
I stood my ground. I would not let him think I was even a tiny bit intimidated by him. He may be a serious villain but we all know who is more powerful here.
In case you need a reminder, it's me.
"If she disappeared then maybe it was to get away from seeing your face all the time. That and your breath stinks."
Gust's face contorted with anger. In a flash, his hand was against my neck and his fingers tightened around my throat. There were several gasps and a series of scuffles behind me.
I kept my eyes locked with Gust, waiting to see if he was actually going to do it.
"If I find out you knew all along-"
"You'd what? I could burn you to a crisp before you come within a hundred feet of me," I said, keeping my voice steady. I sneered and heated myself up so fast Gust yelped and let me go.
I got in his face and sneered. "Do that again and it won't be just your hand. I already told you that I don't know anything about WhiteStreak's disappearance, and I promise I will look for her. But you threatening me will not speed things along, are we clear?"
Gust stared at me, breathing hard with obvious signs of anger. "Yes, Flaming Spark."
"Good. Now shoo."
"This is our HQ too," he growled, his feathers ruffled. "We can come and go as we please."
"Great. Then you can start by pulling your weight and going through those stacks of paperwork over there," I said, pointing to a random desk. "And when you finish with that, you have a few new villains to initiate, as well as mapping out your territory and organizing villains by divisions."
Gust stepped back, as well as his posse of villains. "Uh, on second thought, we have things to do."
They scurried back to the Super elevator, which only takes you to the rooftop, and left just as quickly as they had appeared.
"Well I guess responsibility is a villains weakness," I mumbled, turning on my heels to resume whatever it was I had been doing.
Everyone was staring at me and I forgot what I was supposed to be doing. I can face up to a powerful villain with my life on the line and not be one bit scared, but put me in front of a crowd and I will be petrified.
I looked over at Charlie in panic, hoping he'd get the hint to tell everyone to stop staring because this is starting to get extremely awkward. Unfortunately, Charlie was being clueless.
