Coal's P.O.V.:

"You need to take a break."

I threw my head back and groaned loudly, sinking back further into my dad's couch and wishing I was at McDonald's ordering all the food with Ben and Betty. "I'm fine! I don't need a break. I want to get back into the swing of things."

Max sat on the bench across from me and ran his hands across his face. "A week to recover from all that you've done? Taking down the S.A.V.D. single-handedly was not an easy task. You need to rest."

Molly sat down with a thump next to me, and crossed her legs. A bowl of nacho cheese Doritos on her lap. "What did I miss?"

I straightened up and stole a handful of chips. "Max wants me to take, like, a month of rest because apparently Charlie dropping me from the height of mount Everest wasn't enough recovery for me." I stuffed a perfectly triangular chip into my mouth and sighed happily. "Mm cheese. You know, I missed this food so much, like the S.A.V.D. only ever fed me mush. This is real sustenance."

Max sighed loudly. "Coal, take me seriously, please."

Barely resisting a burst of laughter, I sat up and tried to feed him a Dorito. "Eat and be happy, Maximus."

He didn't even take the offered chip. "Coal."

"Maximus." I ate the chip and shrugged. "Dad, listen, I don't want to take a break, I'm anxious to fix the things Charlie messed up-"

"Hey! I did the best I could," Charlie said, sitting up suddenly from laying on the floor. "It is not easy keeping that kind of schedule and having a normal life!"

I grinned. "And that's why I need to get back to work, so Charlie doesn't get anymore ulcers or gray hairs. Whatever you try to tell me, I'm going back."

"Molly, talk some sense into him," Max said, looking hopelessly at the girl leaning into my side.

Molly leaned away and looked up at me, cheese covered lips and a dusting of artificially but naturally flavored dehydrated nacho cheese powder on the tip of her nose. "Coal, let's rock this world."

"Couldn't have said it better, Molly love," I said, kissing her forehead.

Dad got up with a sigh and left the living room, leaving just Molly, me and Charie Blaberts, who was content to lay on the carpet and whisper to themselves.

Charlie and Marie were the cutest couple, right after Molly and me, that is. And Ben and Betty were a cute couple, especially since they had an extremely small, humble wedding and got married a few days ago. Yes, they should be at their honeymoon right now but they claim that they didn't want to do anything big and just wanted to be together.

And I don't know which one is weirder, Ben now a husband or the fact that I just said cute twice.

I shivered and got to my feet, intending to call Ben and harass him about taking forever with the McDonald's run but there was a text message waiting for me. A text message from someone whose very name sent a shiver down my spine.
