Jess and Luke haul the furniture to Rory's apartment later in the evening. They also drove to Woodbridge to get the dining room set.

On the way there, Luke and Jess discuss the new relationship with Rory.

"So, Jess. I see you are stepping up with Rory."

"Yeah Luke. You were right. I realized she makes me happy. And I can deal with Logan in our lives because I want to be happy."

"So what are your plans. I mean, you live and work in Philadelphia. Are you going to move? Or are you going to make Rory move?"

"I have no intentions of asking Rory to move. Lorelai is here. Her main support system is here. I don't want to take her away from that."

"So then, do you want to move here?" Luke asks.

"I don't know. I haven't thought that far. But for now, I will keep traveling between Philly and here. I love her, Luke. And for some inexplicable reason, she loves me, too."

Rory is at the Gilmore house eating a pop tart and reading the Gazette.

Lorelai comes in the house. "Hey Rory. I think there is something really wrong with my nose."

"Why, mom?"

"This morning I smelled snow. And still, not one inch on the ground."

Rory laughs. "Mom, the day isn't done yet. You can still have your snow."

"So is the apartment all furnished now?" Lorelai asks as she's taking off her coat.

"Yup. Jess and I bought all the stuff I need for the place. Jess and Luke are just picking up one last thing at Woodbridge, then it will be fully furnished."

"So, talking about Jess and you, what's going on between you two?" Lorelai tries again to probe for answers from Rory.

"What's going on is I love him and he loves me. We want to be together."

"What about Logan and the baby?" Lorelai asks.

"Logan knows about Jess. He knows that Jess and I are getting closer and that I am happy with him. All he wants is for me to be happy. And I am happy. As for the baby, Jess is full of surprises, mom. Just when I think I have him figured out, he goes and does something so unexpected. He challenges me in ways no one else has and helps sort out my life." Rory gushes.

"Ok, that doesn't answer the question. What about the baby? Is Jess going to be ok with you having another man's child.

"I believe so. I mean he is already reading up books on how to be a great dad." Rory laughs at the vision of Jess buying those books. She wonders if it looked similar to the time she bought her baby books.

"So you're going to be ok about the distance?"

"Philadelphia isn't that far. I can go visit him. Or he can visit here. I mean at least that's the plan for now."

"For now? And what about later?" Lorelai urges.

"Mom, I don't know. Can you stop being my mom for a minute and be my best friend?"

"Ok. Rory, I am extremely happy for you and Jess. I love you and as long as he makes you happy, I am happy. So how big is he?"

"Mom!"

"You told me to be your bff. This is the type of stuff bffs talk about." Lorelai breaks into laughter at the look of horror on her daughter's face.

"To be honest, I don't know. I mean we haven't had sex yet. I have read in books, pregnant women at this stage experience heightened sexual drive. I would be lying if I were to say I haven't thought about it."

"Well, books don't lie about that trust me."

"Mom!" Lorelai laughs even more at Rory's discomfort.

"Can I put my mom hat on for a minute?"

"Go ahead."

"I would suggest taking your time. Make sure you're both ready. Use protection and cherish it. Make it special. I remember you at 18 sitting at this same table in this same room telling me that you're ready for sex. And you thought it was going to be with Jess. So you both have been waiting for each other for 14 years."

"Ok, mom. I love him. You know."

"Yeah I know."

Right at that moment, it starts to snow.

*****

Rory has had a long day, going around town, shopping for furniture. By 9:00, Rory is struggling to stay up. She crawls into bed to read when her phone rings. Rory checks her caller ID and sees it's Jess.

Rory answers the phone. "Hey, Jess."

"Hey, Rory."

"How is it that I just spent most of the day with you and I still want to hear your voice?"

Jess laughs. "Feeling is mutual."

"Well, so-" Rory and Jess start at the same time.

"You go first." Rory says.

"Um, ok. I wanted to know what your plans are for the rest of the week."

"Well, I have to turn in some hours at the Gazette and do some work at the inn. I have been away from both because of the holidays."

"How about I take you out on a date this weekend? It's New Years and I would like to take you out."

"I hope our date is not to watch Almost Famous again. I can't bear watching Kate Hudson commit suicide again."

Jess laughs. "Hey, I like that movie. Don't knock it."

"Yes, Jess . But we saw that movie three times."

"Don't worry. It's not Almost Famous. It will be a surprise. All I can tell you is pack an overnight bag."

"Where are we going?"

"Patience, my paduwan."

Rory and Jess laughs. They stay up late into the night talking on the phone.
