Chapter 21

Rory walks under the tent and is overwhelmed by all the emotions. Everyone in town is there to celebrate her newcomer.

She is met first by Jess and Luke, who both give her big hugs. "Did you do this?" Rory asks Jess.

"Luke and Lorelai did most of the work. I just had to bring the guests of honor here." Rory reaches for Jess's lips and kisses him.

Under the tent are other townsfolk, Gypsy, Morey, Miss Patty, Taylor, Zach, Lane, the twins, Kirk, Lulu. Everyone who had a small hand in helping raise Rory.

Rory was also surprised to see Lorelai's best friend, Sookie. "Sookie!"

"Hey, Rory. You look so good pregnant." Sookie exclaimed.

"Thank you so much for coming." Rory says when she hugs Sookie.

"Rory. Come over here." Lorelai calls out.

Rory looks for her mom through the crowd. Standing next to her is Emily. "Grandma!"

"You think I would miss my first great grandchild's shower? I just had to be here. Richard would be so proud of you." Emily hugs Rory tight.

"Hey, Ace."

Rory thought she was hearing things. When she felt a pat on the shoulder and turned around, she was surprised to see Logan standing there with a beautiful brunette.

"Logan! What are you doing here?" Rory exclaims.

"We wanted to surprise you. Ace, I'd like to introduce you to my wife Odette."

"Bonjour. Congratulations." Odette says in a thick French accent. Odette extends her hand to Rory.

Rory takes it and whispers "merci." Jess also introduces himself to Odette and greets Logan. The two men came to an understanding last time they talked.

It was a great shower, reminiscent of the Bon Voyage party the town threw Rory 10 years ago.

Luke was handling the grill, feeding everyone hot dogs and hamburgers. There were plenty of games and dancing. A mountain of gifts.

Most of the town assumed Jess was the father so they were surprised when Logan sat next to Rory to open the baby shower gifts.

Odette and Rory had a chance to talk. Rory apologized profusely for the affair.

"Do you still love Logan?" Odette asked Rory.

"I believe I always will. He's the father of my baby. But I choose Jess." Rory answered.

"Jess is a good man. I will make sure Logan is in your baby's life." Odette reassures her.

"Merci."

As the party winds down, Rory and Jess walk on the dance floor. "Can you believe four months ago we were dancing right here at almost the same spot?" Rory asks.

"Yup. I knew something was wrong. I could see it on your face. You looked scared." Jess said.

"Yeah. I had just peed on a stick and my life was forever changed. I didn't know what to do. Do I still look scared?" Rory asks Jess.

"Not one single bit. I remember that night telling you I will always be here for you. And look at us now." Jess said.

They sway to the strums of "Thinking out loud" like they did four months ago.

Later that evening, Jess and Rory are laying in bed. Jess has his arms around her when he notices she's crying.

"What's wrong, Rory?"

"It's just. Everyone did that for me. And I'm leaving this town behind."

"Do you have regrets?" Jess asks.

"No. I love you. I love Philadelphia. I'm excited for our life together. I just will miss this place." Rory says.

Jess wraps his arms around Rory through the night.

A couple of days later, Rory is all moved in. Lorelai helped decorate the guest room to be a nursery.

When Lorelai and Luke head back to Stars Hollow, Jess has his arm around Rory's waist as they look at their house, and whispers "Welcome home."

Thank you all for reading this. I want to take a break. Maybe finish a third story where Rory gives birth. But I feel this fanfic ends where it's supposed to end. Rory and Jess living together. Rory finally getting her life on track for the baby. Hope y'all enjoy it. Thank you
