Taylor's response to Rory's resignation wasn't exactly as civilized as Luke's.
"Oh, so you're moving to Philly now huh? What, you gonna shack up with that hooligan kid? Forget all about this little town and join the big leagues." Taylor rants.
"Taylor, I am not leaving Stars Hollow forever. My mom and Luke live here. I will be back. But I am moving to Philadelphia. And Jess is not a hooligan kid." Rory snaps back.
"Big city is calling and you're just going to leave our little newspaper behind. You'll just forget all about it. That's fine. We can go find a new editor." Taylor walks off in a huff.
Rory is just left standing in front of Doose's market in shock. She walks to her car and drives the short distance to her mom's house.
She finds Lorelai in the kitchen with Babette.
"Sugar, wow you're getting big. How far along are you?" Babette stands up from the table to hug Rory.
"24 weeks." Rory says as she sits next to Babette
"Oh, sugar. You're gonna be a great mom. So what's this Lorelai telling me you're moving to Philly."
"Yeah I'll be working at a local news magazine. I'll be moving in with Jess." Rory admits.
Babette pushes Rory's head to her chest. "Oh, sugar. Morey and I will miss you. This town won't be the same."
"I will be back, Babette. I'm not leaving for good." Rory says.
"Yeah, she better not be leaving for good. I have to see my grandson every now and then."
"Boy!! It's a boy?!? Oh, just wonderful news, sugar."
Just then Rory's cellphone rings. To her surprise, caller ID says it's Logan.
"I'll be back mom." Rory enters her old room, shuts the door before answering the phone.
"Hey Logan. Long time no hear." Rory teases.
"Sorry about that." Logan apologizes.
"I'm joking. How was the wedding and the honeymoon?" Rory asks.
"The wedding was nice. Surprisingly the weather cooperated. We went to Seychelles for the honeymoon. Beautiful beaches. How are you and the baby?"
"Richard is kicking my bladder. I feel like I have to pee every five seconds. Hey I want to thank you." Rory sits on her old bed.
"You're welcome. For what?"
"Your recommendation to Philadelphia Magazine. I got the job."
"You're welcome. It's the least I could have done with the whole Mitchum disaster. I really can't apologize enough for that." Logan says.
"You can't control your father." Rory says.
"So when do you start at the Magazine?" Logan asks.
"In two weeks. That means I have to move soon. I'm kind of nervous about it." Rory admits.
"Nervous about what?" Logan asks.
"Moving, having a new job, being a mom, everything. I mean I have so much stuff going on at once. I haven't even had time to finish my book, or do much more preparation for the baby. And I have applied to get my masters in communications at University of Pennsylvania. I don't know how I can do all this." Rory finally lets out all her feelings.
"I don't have any doubts that you can. Jess got your back there in Philadelphia. And if you need anything at all. I will be there as well." Logan reassures her.
"Thank you. Hey congrats again on the wedding. When do you come back to the states?" Rory asks.
"Not for awhile, sadly. I have so much stuff to do here on this side of the pond before the baby comes. Anyway, I better let you go. I will talk to you later. Love you." Logan says.
"Love you, too." Rory hangs up the phone.
Rory sits and looks around her old room and takes a deep sigh. Lorelai enters. "You ok, Rory?"
"Yeah. It's just I grew up in this room. So much happened in this room. I met Jess right there." Pointing at her old computer desk.
"And under that bed is where he hid your old bracelet when it was missing and he had it." Lorelai adds.
"Do you remember all the Harvard paraphernalia we had and those brochures I kept collecting at the college fairs?"
"I remember when your grandfather surprised us with a visit to a Dean at Yale."
"I will never forget I told the Dean the person I wanted most to be like was Gloria Estefan. Man, that interview was not a bright moment for me." Rory laughs.
"Wait here for one minute. I want to show you something." Lorelai leaves the room and comes back with papers in her hand. "I found these yesterday when I was cleaning up the room."
"What is it?" Rory asks.
"Look." Lorelai hands her the papers.
Rory looks at the papers handed to her and gasps in shock. "Pros and cons list for the colleges. Harvard, Yale and Princeton. You know I still make my big decisions by writing a pros and cons list."
"There is a science to this madness." Lorelai jokes.
"Yes, there is."
Rory reaches out and grabs Lorelai's hand. "Mom, I had a good life here. It's because of you I know I can do this. I just hope to be half of as good a mother to this baby as you were to me."
Lorelai caresses Rory's face and with tears in her eyes says, "I have no doubt you will."
