No Comments, No Votes

If you're a reader (writers as well), you know there are books you've seen that you don't want to be caught on. I mean, who hasn't?

We've all come across some cringey smuts written by 12-13 year olds. They don't even deserve votes to be honest. Kidding.

But, nothing is more harmful than being a silent reader. I understand that many people read offline, but it's not hard to even turn around and spam vote your favourite authors for the times you couldn't.

Please do vote for your favourite authors. It may not seem much, but it can show the author that they are getting support from their audience. No matter how small or how big they are, it is great to have a supporting audience.

I can tell you this:
My personal account has 177 followers.
I have 2 books.
Across both books, I have less reads than the #ABA2017 Competition book.
Across both books, I haven't got up to 1k votes yet.
I have less than 3k comments across both.

And I'll never know how many votes or comments I could've gotten if my silent readers interacted. It's like, the only ones I have only want to talk are those who are uniterested. They would only like if I read their work.

The only way a writer like me can get reads or votes us a read for read. Even so, most of them fulfill the answering back part, as well as receiving. Just never the one to give.

This is the effect silent readers can have on a writer. We need people who will support us and our work. We need people we can interact with... or at least acknowledge they're reading.

I don't mean to guilt trip people into reading my work, but you should show support for those you like!
