This isn't targeted at anyone in particular. This is an open rant.
Okay.
I just need to get this out of my system, because this has annoyed me ever since I was introduced to this platform.
Why is it that zodiac, joke and unoriginal (crap) books have and get so much more credit than beautifully crafted stories?
I don't know about you, but I find it utterly annoying. Like, I'm a small author who struggles to find readers as dedicated as the 2 I have (honestly, I love the hell out of them. They help me continue writing). It annoys me so much when I see a lazy person who basically pops up one day, opens tumblr or instagram, copy and pastes the text or image and gets famous for it.
It's great to find something that is funny or relateable, but they generally don't deserve the fame they get. Being an admin of this account, trying to manage my own, my stories on both accounts- it is more draining than it looks.
I really do enjoy hosting things like awards, reviews, book clubs and contests (coming soon! Community book). But, doing these things and balancing school, my own account and other stuff is tough.
But nothing feels worse than trying so hard... to then being beaten by a copy and paste numpty.
Now, I'm not saying that they all do this, but it's infuriating. But seriously? I've seen the same bad, overused and reguritated Tern Fiction crap recycled off tumblr like a million times.
Zodiac books (generalised)
Meme/joke books (generalised)
Crappy cliché booksThey're not hard to bloody make. Here's the formula to make either one:
1. Make an account on Wattpad. Make sure you're either super nice or the most edgy kid here.
2. Search the internet for old and outdated memes. Make sure to gind specific ones for the famdom you're in, so that people will sympathise with you in some way.
3. Copy and paste those memes. But make sure there's only one per chapter! More chapters = more reads = more comments = more votes! Get with the program soldier!
4. Wait 0.5 seconds to become Wattpad famous. Meanwhile, watch others who spend an hour a week trying to make time for Wattpad and an extra 4 to actually type and proof their chapters grovel in shame as they notice you have 100 times the amount of reads they've had to work 2 years to get.
I'm just... done. I hate watching brilliant writers like yourselves being hidden from a radar by people who do nothing. I'm well aware that Wattpad isn't all about stories, but this is just dreadful.
