This one will be on the rant side, rather than advice. This is about Wattpad's Auto-Formating issue.
When I say this, I mean when Wattpad decides to change the format of your story: sometimes so much so that it becomes unrecognisable. This has happened to me way too many times.
I'll just be on Wattpad one day, when a notification shows up. One of my readers has left an inline comment on one of the three Chapter 16s I have. Because of the fairly new update, I can see what they've commented before going into the chapter itself. So, after seeing 'Savage' and some emojis commented, I go to check where they've left the comment (you'd be surprised how dark the humour some of the commenters have XD).
I'll press on the notification and wait a few seconds for my slow ass internet to load, while having a staring contest with anything nearby. Then, to my despair, the chapter loads with zero change. The comments haven't loaded at all and everything's being terrible.
But, because I'm preoccupied with being full of complete despair, I barely noticed that my chapters are scrambled. Entire paragraphs are repeated, lines are cut off randomly and more.
It's like it just destroyed the structure of my work. That was just painful.
But, the worst is when my readers were telling me I had 'unfinished sentences' and worse. I could see my work fine in the editor, but not at all in the actual book. It was worse because I wasn't the only person experiencing this.
Then, I find that my story editor/draft has random, paragraph-sized gaps between already structured work. Sometimes they'd be inside paragraphs or words. And rarely, the writing would become vertical.
I'd delete them, they'd reappear. Another restructuring. And another. How often is it again? Everyday? Probably, I've long lost count.
Again,
And again,
And again.
Over and over.
I've tried to fix this issue, countlessly. But, at this point, I might just give up.
Restructuring that is. Not writing.
But, I'd really appreciate advice on how to fix this error.
