Lights blinded Marinette as the flashes on the paparazzi's cameras went off. She was rushed into a hospital. Her heart was still pounding hard against her chest and her eyes were opened as wide as they possibly could. She saw people trying to talk to her, but she couldn't really hear them. She only felt the adrenaline of when Gabriel rushed her out of the warehouse just as the bomb blew up. Her eyes could only squint at the lights in the hallway as she was rushed into a room. But, most importantly, he only had one person on her mind. Adrien.

Where was he? How is he doing? Did he really ever make it out? Marinette was too distracted on these questions and the curiosity of what Adrien was possibly going to say to her, had they not been taken out.

"Marinette! Marinette, my darling!" She snapped out of her trance when she heard her mother's voice from a distance. Sabine and Tom ran with the hospital bed.

"Maman! Papa!" Marinette was delighted to see her parents. Tears of joy streamed down the family members' faces as they entered a room and the hospital bed was finally brought to a halt.

"Marinette," Sabine hugged her daughter tight, burying her face in her shoulder, "I thought we would have lost you. We were so worried."

Marinette sobbed into her mother's embrace, "Oh, maman, I was so scared."

Tom joined in on the hug and wrapped his big arms around the two girls of his life. "We will never let this situation happen ever again. I'm making sure of that."

And, as the family had a long, much-needed cuddle session, Gabriel Agreste stood by the doorway, trying to imagine having a family like that. Once he had a good share of his envy, he turned on his heel and went to visit his son.

Adrien was staring at the blank wall in front of him. Hospitals were always gloomy and plain, but it had been more so when there was nobody else there to see its negativity. He was all alone in his hospital room. His father wasn't here, as usual, and, not even Nathalie had come to keep an eye on him.

He felt so lonely. He thought he was better off in that warehouse than here. No people. Just deafening silence.

The door opened and Adrien's head snapped towards its direction. Who he had expected to be Nathalie to come in was his father.

Gabriel's blue eyes bore straight into Adrien's chartreuse ones. Adrien noticed that there was something in those eyes today, something he had never seen or noticed before. Gabriel stared at his son's appearance and his heart scrunched up at the sight of it.

Gabriel ran to his son. Albeit the short distance between the doorway to the bed, he wanted to hug him.

"Words cannot express how worried I was for you." Gabriel said as he took his son into a big embrance and nuzzled his head into his son's shoulder.

"What a surprise." Adrien retorts sarcastically, "You thought you'd run out of resources for money, eh?"

"What?" Gabriel draws away, "Is that honestly what you think of me? Of my behavior as your... Father?"

"Isn't that how you always are?" Adrien couldn't stop himself. His father never cared about him, unless if it was for money, and that was what Adrien had come to know ever since his mother just disappeared.

"Adrien..." Gabriel starts, "I care about you more than you think."

"Yeah? Then why is it that it was only Nathalie who came and got me, hmm?" Adrien tried to suppress his eyes from rolling.

"I got your friend. I saved her," Gabriel tells him calmly, "I saved her for you."

Adrien's heart clenched at this. No wonder. And, all this time, he had thought that his father was out in a meeting or something when his father had given so much kindness to a stranger just for his own son. Adrien felt guilty; he shouldn't have treated his father that way.

"I, I never knew..." Adrien stuttered.

"It's okay." Gabriel smiled, "At least I have you back. That's what matters."

He pulled his son into yet another tight embrace.

And, this time, Adrien hugged back.
