So you know that feeling you get, when nothing seems real? That your watching a movie of your life and no matter how hard you try, you can't do anything? Like a nightmare that you don't wake up from at the right moment. Nothing is right but you know that it's life or death?
Well this is how I fell. Christian is by my side as we round the corner. I don't know if the footsteps behind my are real or figments of my imagination. I look at Erik, sleeping in Christians arms, oblivious to the danger we are in. Down the hall to the security room.
I open the door to the room and let Sparky in first. Then, without a word, I start running back. Back through the hall, a million things racing through my mind but one stands out. Pain. Give pain to whoever would want to hurt my child.
I race through the corridor and into my room. A man with a mask is standing there, too focused on the pictures on my desk to notice me. I tackled him from behind, his size dwarfed mine, but I was at the advantage. My hand clamps around his mouth before a sound can come out.
"Where is she?" I growled. A gasp comes from behind me. I knee the man before turning around.
A women about my size is there. A curvy with red hair coming out of her mask. And I knew only one person who would dare break into my place.
My own mother.
A million questions run through my mind. Her. One of the ones who abandoned me, well not really, she was just never there.
I give no emotion as I grip the mans mask and rip it off. Eddie. The one person I never blamed.
Enraged at how close they were to finding Erik's nursery I growled " Get out."
"Rose..." She stutters.
"You broke into my home and violated my privacy. You both are not in my life anymore. Leave."
The guilt shown in her face as she dragged Eddie out of the room. I didn't care.
Once she was gone I survey the damage. Relived at the fact that they didn't get near Erik's nursery, I sprint back down to the control room. Christian and Erik were there, silently pacing back and forth. I quickly grab my angle from Sparky's hands and hold him close.
" I love you, мой маленький ангел" I whisper in his ear over and over again as we walk back.
I woke up at 4:30 the next morning. I know, who knew I could ever get out of bed early.
I walked into the gym shortly after. It was barren, just a few mats and a punching bag. I started my routine with 30 laps around the perimeter. Even by the time I was done nobody had joined me in the giant space. I moved on to sit-ups and push-ups. Lots of them. Then I started on the punching bag. There were no gloves but that didn't matter, it's not like I had padding while punching stone hard strigoi.
Somebody finally walked in behind me as I finished my set of kicks. My face had a neutral expression as I turned around.
" Care to spar." I asked the man.
" I would, Roza." Came the deep reply.
