China POV:

Oh, dash all of those plans. I showed myself, and leapt at Japan.

Japan didn't expect that sudden interference, and I was able to wrench the sword out of his hands. "Japan! Don't do this!"

Japan stared at me, his eyes soul less and glazed. He seemed to be an empty shell, with no spirit or life in him. He dropped to his knees.

"Kill me then." He spoke quietly.

I dropped the sword in shock. "Sorry? What did you say?"

Japan looked up at me, eyes full of tears. "I said, kill me. Why are you holding back? Don't you hate me for all that I did?"

I picked up Japan's sword. The handle was old and worn, but the blade still as sharp as ever. Japan was helpless, at my feet. All those things that were done to me - I could avenge them all in a single strike. A red mist fell over my eyes.

I gripped the sword tightly, and slashed at Japan's back. A stream of crimson appeared, going from his left shoulder to his right hip. It felt good to get even.

Japan howled in pain.

I raised the sword up high - and stopped.

This wasn't right. Even if Japan had betrayed me, and wounded me, he was my brother, after all.

The red mist cleared, and I slowly brought my hand to my side.

"I can't kill you. You're my brother." I stated calmly. "You can't force me to kill you either."

Japan didn't seem to listen. He stood up and faced me, face and eyes red. "Why aren't you killing me? The things I did...was so disgraceful that I deserve death! Just kill me! I don't care if you hate me. I hate myself too! I want to die!"

Tears prickled my eyes. I blinked them away hastily. "I don't hate you. I used to, but now, I am sick of hating the one I love. I have chosen to love you, not hate." I tossed Japan's sword over the bridge, hearing it splash into the fast flowing river. "I will not kill you."

Japan got to his feet unsteadily. "If you won't kill me...well, there's a way around that."

"Wait Japan!"

He turned to face the river. "Goodbye, big brother." He leapt onto the wooden railing, teetering on its edge. Gently, he tipped backwards, letting himself fall, with gravity being his only guide.

"NO!"
