Something Real (A Shawn Mendes Fanfiction)

Part Twenty: Chritsmas Day

I look in the mirror and take a deep breath. I'm wearing a cute maroon sweater dress with black pantyhose and my black heel boots. I have a red necklace on and my hair is wavy and a few pieces are pinned back. Lots of pictures are going to be taken because my mom loves to take pictures.

I hear the doorbell ring and I know that it's the Mendes family. Alright here we go.

I walk downstairs and I immediately make eye contact with Shawn. I fake a smile and he does the same. I went and greeted everyone but I didn't hug Shawn.

"Merry Christmas everyone!" Aaliah shouted as she came through the door. She went and dangled mistletoe over her parents and so Manny gave Karen a kiss.

"Okay everyone lets eat and then we will open up presents." My mom said while helping Karen put the gifts they had brought under the tree.

We all went to the kitchen and Shawn was going to pull out my chair for me, but I did it before he could. He sat down on my right and I gave him a weak smile.

The food was already set and everyone was serving themselves.

"So Lexi what are your 2016 plans?" Aaliah asked me as she put mashed potatoes on her plate.

"Well I have.." I was cut off by my phone ringing. 

"Lexi who is it? We are trying to have dinner." My mom said sitting down.

"It's Alice. Is it okay if I take it in the other room?" I asked and she nodded her head. I got up and walked into the kitchen.

"Hello" I said sitting on a stool in the kitchen.

"Lexi you got the part! You are going to be in your first movie!" My jaw dropped when Alice said that.

"Alice you're joking right?" 

"Now why would I joke about this? You fly to California at the end of January to meet everyone and start shooting the movie." 

"Oh my gosh I can't believe this! Thank you so much! I have to go but I'll call you later to talk about this." I said and then I hung up.

I got the part! This is actually happening. I honestly thought that they weren't going to want me to play this role, but they did! 

I walked into the dining room and everyone looked at me. I had a huge smile on my face.

"What happened?" Grace asked.

"I just got my first movie role! I'm the leading actress!!" I yelled and started jumping around.

"Mija that's great! I'm so proud of you!" My mom got up and hugged me.

Everyone congratulated me and sat back down at the table.

"So what is the movie about?" Grace said while eating some turkey.

"Sorry, I'm not allowed to say. I fly out to California at the end of January to meet my costars and start filming." I said and then I began to eat my food.

We all talked and ate, but Shawn and I didn't say anything to eachother. Every now and then we would look at eachother but then look away.

We all finished and cleaned up and then went to the living room to open up gifts.

"Okay I want to give Lina (my mom) her gift first" Nate said and I knew what it was. He pulled out a big box and my mom started unwrapping it. Every time she opened up one is there was a smaller one inside. 

I started recording when she was almost to the real gift. Finally she got to the box with the ring in it. She took it out and Nate got down on one knee.
