"My daughter..." Semilar held Dovaa in his frail arms. He pulled the sword out of her chest and tossed it away, and it clattered to the floor. "What have I done?!" He cried, tears welling up in his eyes.
Dovaa was barely alive, and she managed to reach her hand up to her father's hand. "Do not hate him, father." She said, then the she coughed. "It is in his nature.."
Semilar held his daughter's hand. He spoke to Westfall, but still looked at the ground. "I thought by bringing you here, I could...But I have destroyed everything! This plan... I have failed!"
Westfall ran over to Shae, and Iris followed behind him. He knelt down next to her. "No...no.." he muttered as he looked at her.
Her eyes were white and skin was cold.
Westfall couldn't believe he let this happen. If he had gotten there faster than she wouldn't have been possessed, and maybe she wouldn't be... dead.
He hated Sek'loniir, absolutely hated him for what he did to Shae.
Westfall looked desperately at Semilar, who had the same grave expression on his face. "Can you help her?" He asked, his voice cracking slightly.
"No... There is no light. The balance...Has been broken. The Evil has been unleashed! And the darkness will continue to consume her."
Westfall didn't take his no for an answer.
"But you must help her!" He cried.
"I cannot undo what is done," Semilar said more firmly. " There is.. no hope."
Westfall frowned. "Yes there is! There's always hope!"
Semilar didn't answer.
Dovaa reached her and to touch her father cheek to get his attention.
She pointed to Shae and nodded.
Semilar understood, and stood up in-between Dovaa and Shae, who lay next to each other.
He gestured for Westfall to kneel infront of him, and he obeyed.
"Then let my daughter's last act, be to breathe life into your friend."
Westfall touched one hand on Dovaa's forehead and the other one to Shae's.
Semilar lifted his arms and immediately a bright light shot in the air, almost blinding Iris.
Westfall's back arched as a foreign power rushed through him.
Iris watched as a glowing light transferred from Dovaa to Shae, like a flashing light.
Semilar lowered his arms, and Westfall dropped back to his normal state. Dovaa and Shae were now both darker in colour.
Westfall looked over at Shae, who still lay motionless.
Suddenly Shae sat up abruptly, coughing.
His eyes wide with relief and gratitude, Westfall immediately hugged Shae. But he let go as he realized that he should probably let her take in a decent breath of air before he overwhelmed her.
"What's...Happening?" Shae asked, squinting in confusion.
She clearly didn't remember anything about being possessed.
Westfall sighed, "not much. It's good to see you."
He helped her stand, and she looked at Iris who smiled at her.
"As the balance in this world crumbles, so shall war escalate in your galaxy."
"We will stop your son," Westfall said with determination.
"No!" Semilar said. "You must go, now! He needs your ship to leave. You must go, and never come back!"
"Wait," Iris spoke up, "what about this little experiment you set up for us?"
"Yea," Westfall agreed, "you can't just bring us here and make us suffer, only to send us away without a reason for it."
Semilar looked up at him. "Actually, I can." Now he started to sound like his old arrogant self.
"But, I won't." He sighed. "Before you leave, go to the memory chamber, quickly. The guards will take you there. You will know what to do."
"And what will you do?" Iris asked.
Semilar sighed again "I shall mourn all that is lost. And all that is yet to be."
Westfall exchanged confused glances with his two cadets.
Obviously Semilar wasn't going to give them any more information, so they hopped off the platform and walked out of the room, ready to face whatever dangers lay ahead together.
