Chapter 11 - Safe

I have been searching for Lucas for an hour now and I still have no sign if him. I am honestly starting to panic. What did Jack do to him? I had to find him. I would not leave him to die alone out there in the wilderness.

"Oh Lucas" I mumbled. "Where are you?"

" Mmpphhh"

I stopped mid-step. Who was that?

"Lucas?" I look around me but I see no one.

"Mmpphhh"

I walk in the direction of the voice. It got louder and louder as I got closer. I started to run (or maybe waddle) over to where the noise was coming from. There in a clearing, laid Lucas. His hair was clumped together by blood, his clothes and body were filthy and he looked very hungry.

"Lucas!" I ran over to him and helped him sit up. "Oh Lucas, I'm so sorry. I should have left before anything like this happened"

He looked at me with his vulnerable eyes. I could see that he was in pain but I didn't know what to do.

"Fleur"

"Yes"

"I love you..." he whispered.

"I love you too" I leant in and pressed my forehead. I felt his breath against my face, but then slowly fading. His breathing has slowed down.

"Lucas" I looked up. His eyes were closed. "Lucas wake up!"

He groaned. "I'm too tired."

"Lucas don't leave me! PLEASE!"

He opened his eyes and his gaze stopped on my lips. He sat up on his own, his eyes never moving. As if asking for permission, he looked into my eyes. Seeing that I wanted this as much as he did, he leaned in.

The last time I kissed someone was a month ago. Jack kissed me. I was forced. Jack stole my first kiss but this is different. This is real.

I lean in to meet him halfway but I pause when I am an inch away. He closes his eyes and I follow. For the last time I lean forward, Lucas' hand pulling me forward by my neck.

Unlike my stolen first kiss, this is special. I will savour this moment forever. Because I am with him. And with him, I feel safe.
