Chapter 1 : Its a jungle and they can take you down

Ashley's p.o.v

I walked down the corridor trying to find my class, even though I've been here for a week, I still didn't get used to this school nor their system. So far I haven't really made a close friend, just a few people I talk to in class, at breaks I stay at the library, drawing on my notebook and listening to mayday parade, and that, just in the fear of having to stay alone. Back at my old school, I was never really alone, I was popular and had a lot of friends, but I guess things change.
After school I go to the hospital and study there, my dad has cancer, and apparently the doctors say there might be no cure, since we discovered it pretty late. My dad always told me that my mom died because of an accident, however neighbors gossip about the fact she used to take drugs when I was 3, I don't believe that. My brother Val barely has time for me, he's 24 years old and still didn't get any wiser, he always disappears at nights, god knows where.
I reached my history class and entered the class looking as insecure as always. I sat on my desk and stared at the teacher as he started to explain the lesson. Then I found myself staring at Liam smith, one of the school's smartest
and hottest kid. He was every girl's dream, it was so obvious cause girls are always around him, but what's weird is that he doesn't really pay them any attention, meaning I don't stand a chance.

'Okay students, you have a new project to work on so pair up in groups of two' Mr.Vincent said.

I thought I was going to work alone again but this girl Sarah came up to me.

'Hey ashley wanna pair up?' She asked smiling.

'Sure, we'll go at my place after school' I smiled back. She just nodded. I guess I was going to visit my dad tomorrow night after all.

Now it was break time, Well, library for me... I made my way to the library but then I remembered I forgot my notebook in class, not just any notebook...did I mention it was my diary?

I ran as fast as I could towards my class, if someone reads it, I'm dead meat. I wasn't looking where I was going so I bumped straight through the wall and fell back on my ass.

'Ouch' I sighed.

'Watch where you're going you uneducated peasant' the wall said.

I looked up and saw a guy, 'walls can't talk' I remembered myself.

'Excuse me?' The guy said.

'Oops did I say that out loud?' I asked myself again.

'Don't you have a brain that controls your mouth?' The guy sassed back.

'Aren't you going to help me up?' I raised my eyebrows.

'Aw how cute, of course not' he shrugged.

'You fat pig' I whispered.

'What did you say?' He raised his voice. I stood up.

'I said you're a fat pig' I grinned. Wow where was all this courage coming from?

'Listen-' the guy was short interrupted by none other than Liam Smith. I think I was going to black out. HE WAS SO BEAUTIFUL.

'Wow Dylan chill, no need to go hard on the new girl' Liam said.

'I don't remember asking for you opinion smith' Dylan guy smirked.

'You need to chill' now it was Liam's turn to smirk.

'Or what?' Dylan raised his eyebrows.

'Or you're gonna have to kiss my fist' Liam grinned.

'Is that a challenge big boy?' Dylan winked.

'You're not really a challenge Good' Liam laughed.

'We'll see about that squirt' Dylan smirked before walking past us and leaving.

'Don't mind him' Liam smiled before leaving. Did Liam smith just talked to me? Let.me.die.

Wait a minute why am I here? TO GET MY FREAKING DIARY! I remembered as I ran to reach the classroom, as soon as I entered it I went towards my desk, nothing. What the hell? This seriously cannot be happening.

Later that day...

Sarah and I went back home and surprisingly my brother Val was there, I was so pissed at him. He took off yesterday night without even telling me, and didn't even bother to come back. I stayed alone at the house, it's not like I cared, but I did care to know where he was going. I really wanted to ask him where the hell was he, but since Sarah was here I didn't want to creep her out with the fact my irresponsible brother leaves his younger sister without even telling her.

'Hey ash, hey friend of ash' Val greeted us, I had to put on my fake smile.

'Sarah this is Valentino, Val this is Sarah a friend from school' I said through gritted teeth.

'Nice to meet you' they both shook hands.

'Let me prepare you two a snack' Val said before going to the kitchen.

'Im gonna charge my laptop so we can start working' sarah said.

'Okay I'll be right back' I told her going to the kitchen.

'Where the fuck were you?' I whisper yelled at him.

'First of all no cussing' he said putting his finger up.

'Second of all, I was at my friend's house' he shrugged.

'At your friend's house? All night?' I raised my eyebrows.

'Well she was pretty hot you know' he smirked.

'I'm not even gonna ask what you two were doing' I said putting my hands up.

I took the food Val prepared and went back to the living room. Sarah and I were eating and chit chatting about boring things.

'Sooo, crushing on anyone?' I blurted out.

'Meh, not really' she shrugged. 'What about you?' She asked.

'Liam Smith' I said feeling my cheeks burn. She looked disappointed at first but then she half smiled.

'You do not want to crush on him trust me' she said.

'Why?' I asked.

'Because he's known for being a heartbreaker and you seem too nice for a guy like him, plus Gail would go crazy' Sarah laughed at the last part.

'Who is she?' I asked curious.

'A total bitch' Sarah said.

'Oh I see' I said before telling her what happened in the hallway this morning.

'I can't believe it, this is so funny' Sarah said laughing her ass off.

'I know right! Ah, Liam' I sighed day dreaming about him.

'Dylan though, you do not want to mess with him trust me ash, he's messed up' Sarah shook her head.

'He is?' I asked. Well yeah he did seem a bit aggressive...

'He's crazy. He's unstable, mean and unpredictable. You just can't understand his mind' Sarah said.

'Did he do anything?' I asked.

'Sells drugs for a living, he doesn't even care about his studies, he's just at school cause his mom wants him to' she replied.

'And doesn't his mom know?' I questioned.

'Nope. His mom is a really nice person though, she's the school's nurse, she's really the opposite of her son' Sarah said.

'But enough with that, lets get to work' Sarah said.

'Yeah we really should' I replied.

Val came outta nowhere.

'Ash I'm leaving, not sure if I'll be coming back home tonight' he said.

Oh god not again. I seriously can't stand these nights alone...

'Where to?' I asked.

'I have some work' he shrugged before saying his goodbyes and leaving. I just hope this 'work' won't get him into trouble.
