a/n: this book I hope isn't coming to an end. I think I might push it a little bit after the ending of the moving but not much more. then maybe I'll make a second book with the second movie. I don't think I've ever wrote a fanfic about a movie that actually had a second one to it so that's awesome that I get to do that for the first time ever. anyways enjoy. lots of love, ash ❤️❤️

I sat on the couch that afternoon letting my thoughts consume me. I was still a little ecstatic over me and Johnny's amazing first kiss today and a little sad. Jake's birthday was coming up soon. This will be the 15th birthday of his I have missed since he was given up for adoption. I watched the old home videos of us growing up. Me and Lawrence took a day to transfer them all onto one DVD for me. I was currently watching Christmas of 89. Lawrence was 19, I was 17, and Jake was 6. We never told him but he wasn't actually planned. He ended up being an accident on my parents parts but I was just happy I got a younger sibling. Being the little one wasn't my forte.

In 1990 my parents both died in a car accident. Seeing that I was 18 and Lawrence was 20 the court wouldn't allow us custody of our little 7 year old brother. Usually they like to keep families together but seeing I was studying for a huge science degree and Lawrence was almost done with college and just finishing up some college loans, they decided it would be best not to put us in chance of poverty so we said our goodbyes and that was the last time I saw him.

In New York your not allowed to contact them until they are 18. As soon as he turned 18 I searched the Internet everywhere I could for months but never came across anything. He was to be turning 22 now and all I wished was he got a happy life. He was my baby brother. And was the toughest of us all. Lawrence was just a big geek and so was I but Jake did every sport he could. Even when he was little he tried to protect me from the world.

"Emma" a little voice filled the room. I wiped my eyes looking at the screen. 17 year old me looked up only to be hit in the face with wrapping paper. My mouth dropped as I set down the new copy of Dead Poets Society I just received. Before I knew it we were in a full blown wrapping paper war chucking hunks of the pre-torn wrapping paper at each other. Little me wrapped my arms around Jakes neck as I used him as a shield from Lawrence. We were all so close even with Jakes age gap from us. I wiped some tears away some more when a deep voice startled me.

"Emma what are you doing?" I looked up to see Ben. I sighed removing my blanket and removing the DVD from the TV.

"Traveling back in time I guess" I said placing it in its case.

"I do that sometimes to you know" he said and I smiled lightly.

"Yeah? How so?"

"Grab the DVD labeled Bens birthday and put it in" he instructed sitting on the couch. I found it within the DVD's and pushed it into the machine. I moved back towards the couch curling up into Ben's rocky side. Surprisingly for a large rock he was extremely comfortable.

"Close your eyes, baby. Keep 'em closed" a woman's voice is sweet as Ben stands front and center in the screen. Not the thing but Ben. A normal man who shakes his head smiling wide at the woman who spoke. The camera pulls back revealing Debbie and Ben.

"You surprised?" she asked. Ben smiles sadly at the glimpse of his old life. He starts to mouth the words. He knew this tale by heart didn't he.

"Yeah I'm surprised. Surprised the fire department didn't shut this down" the camera whips around showing a surprise party full of people. Reed shows up on screen hugging him as they pose for pictures together.

"You were late to this, remember?" he looked down towards me and I nodded. I had felt so bad but I had gotten caught up in work then traffic was hell. I had walked into the room holding a wrinkled present and a mess of myself mumbling something along the lines of surprise for I had been an hour late.
