15; keeping your promise

a/n: this book is almost over but hey. there will be a second one. I wouldn't do that to you guys. i honestly don't even feel I got to tell this story enough so don't worry. i should probably finish my other two books before starting that one though. oops. anyways yah. lots of love, ash ❤️❤️

Ben stepped out of the machine completely covered in rocks again. I grabbed the clear cases of the ear pieces I made and his suit. Ben looked at me as I held the objects.

"I know you said no to the suit but I think it would be a good idea. And give these to Reed, Sue, and Johnny once you see them. That way me and Luke can keep in contact with you while you destroy Victor" I said handing them to him.

"What about me?" I smiled lightly.

"You know about my powers. I have a different way to keep in contact" I smiled at him and returned the favor going to change and take off. I moved to some computers so I could hack into Von Dooms tower security so I could see the footage of what happens.

"Why did you hide your powers?" Luke asked as I typed into the computers.

"I have my reasons" I said for I didn't want to get into this with him right now. I know he found a sense of comfort in the fact that I was 'normal' as well but I lied to him. I knew as soon as I started lying to him it would end badly but I just wanted my friends to be safe. For Johnny to be safe.

"I want that to be good enough for me. But it's not" he sighed pressing his hands down on the table his head falling low.

"I told you things I hadn't even told Johnny before. You were my bestfriend. Someone I trusted and all this time you had been lying to me about who you were" he said and I stopped for just a moment with the computers.

"That's exactly why I didn't tell you. My powers aren't who I am. I can't jump off a cliff to save my friends from a missile if it's being sent towards me, or change myself back into a monster to save someone, or even go after one of my friends that's in danger and would put me in danger too. I'm a coward. I can't be a hero. I don't have the will power in me to do something like that" he looked up at me shaking his head.

"That's where you are wrong Emma. You're the strongest of us all. You take action with everything you do. You're just scared that if you give into them you won't stay true to yourself. You took action as soon as you saw Ben was in danger tonight and helped him when he needed to take action himself. As soon as Johnny started falling today you were gonna jump right into the arena floor to make sure he was okay. You are a hero Emma, you just don't believe in yourself enough to be one" he sauntered off slightly and I dropped my head. He was right. I was just being selfish.

"I got them" I said as the screen popped up revealing the others. Ben had thrown Victor to a wall. As he fell the wall fell down on top of him. I smiled slightly as he helped Reed and Sue. He handed them the ear pieces and they placed them in.

"Hey would you look at that. It's a good thing your girl Emma made these" I said into the microphone and I saw them laugh.

"Yeah well I'm pretty sure Victor is done for good" Reed mumbled back as they all looked up to the cameras smiling. He was still slightly frozen.

"Then hurry up and get home to me, why don't ya?" I said and they nodded all moving to leave the building. Then suddenly the wreckage shifts. Doom emerges, his power courses. He charges at Ben and the two behemoths slam into each other crashing through the glass and into thin air. We all yelled for him as Sue and Reed ran out the room. I lost contact for what felt like forever but finally Reeds voice coursed through the lab.

"I can't let you do that" I hack into street view security cameras as quick as I can. Finally I see them all standing a street. Wreckage all around. Doom is simple and strong as he turns to Reed.
