By the following day Jason had it all organised. The accommodation was booked, the car was booked to pick them up the other end and Mervyn had been told where they were going and had arranged for the plane to be at Gatwick for them to take off at 7am on the Friday.

He sat down at his PC on the Thursday lunchtime and saw that Freya had sent him an e-mail to show him the invite and information which she'd created. Opening it up, he was impressed how believable Lexi's invite to Dublin looked. There was a timetable of fictitious "events and meetings" for her to attend, along with an e-ticket for a fictional Aer Lingus flight, dress code information and an A5 sized hotel voucher for a fictitious single room in Jury's hotel, Dublin. It was obvious that Freya had really worked hard to make it all look convincing with Debbie's help.

He messaged Freya to say thank you and that it looked great. Freya had already printed Lexi's copies off on headed paper ready for her, and placed it on her desk whilst she was out fetching her lunch from Pret a Manger. Freya was in the kitchen area making a cup of coffee when she saw Lexi come back to her office. 'Oh Lexi, your stuff for Dublin came through. I've put it on your desk.' She picked up a coffee cup. 'Want one?'

'Yes, that would be lovely thanks.' Lexi wandered over to her desk and picked up the paperwork, quickly leafing through the pages. She came back in the kitchen holding the paperwork with a confused expression on her face. 'Have you looked at it Freya?'

'Ermm yes. Why?' Freya's heart sank, thinking there must be a glaring mistake that she'd made and that Lexi had spotted it. She poured the hot water into the cups with a nonchalant expression on her face.

'Well, usually we have to share twin rooms on these things don't we? For some reason I'm in a single room.'

'Yes, we do. I bet it's because there's an odd number, that's why.' Freya replied, pouring the milk into the cups. She had put a single room deliberately on the paperwork as normally they were supplied with their room-mate's name on these weekends away. The last thing she wanted was Lexi trying to contact a room-mate to arrange where to meet, as was the norm on these trips.

Lexi shrugged. 'Oh well, I guess I'll meet the other managers at the airport. There's a check-in desk number with the E-Ticket and it says to congregate there.'

Freya felt herself relax and let go of the breath she'd been holding. 'Yeah, that's what you'll have to do. I'll pick you up tomorrow morning around 3am, is that ok?'

Lexi nodded that she was fine with that. She turned and looked at Freya, 'had you remembered I have to leave off early today as I have an appointment with the nurse?'

'Yeah, I'd remembered.' Freya replied as she handed Lexi her coffee cup, 'is everything ok?'

'Yeah, yeah. Just a chat with the nurse and a smear, nothing major.' Lexi replied as she checked her watch to see how much longer she had until then.

Freya picked up her coffee cup and headed off with it to the shop floor where she put it under the counter to drink in between customers. The door opened and she looked up to see a lady come in holding a whicker basket wrapped in cellophane, topped with a lilac ribbon. 'Lexi Willis?' she asked Freya. Freya shook her head, 'she's out back. I'll take it to her.' The lady left the basket with her and Freya took it out the back to Lexi.

'What's that?' Lexi asked as Freya walked in through the door holding the basket aloft.

'Something else from Jason. Lex, he's got it bad! You two really need to sort this out.' Lexi took it off Freya and examined the contents. Inside were half a dozen lilac roses and slabs of fudge and toffees.

'Thanks for bringing it through Freya,' she smiled at Freya who's eyes were like saucers at all the goodies contained in the basket.

Jason heard his phone beep and picked it up, smiling when he saw that the message was from Lexi. He chuckled when he saw her message:
