The party eventually wound up at 1am and Lexi gratefully slid into the back of the waiting car, falling asleep almost immediately as the car started to drive back to the hotel.
Jason was feeling relieved that the concert had gone well with no major glitches. OM had behaved himself and they lads had really enjoyed themselves, as had the crowd. He glanced down at Lexi, her head resting against his arm, fast asleep. As her chest rose and fell gently he felt guilty that he'd not realised how late it was and thought Lexi must be really tired to fall asleep as soon as they'd got into the car. With a sudden clarity of mind, he realised that she must have been on the go for hours and wished he'd either made her go back to the hotel earlier or stopped larking about with the lads and gone back with her. He softly swept a stray hair away from her face, tucking it behind her ear and kissed her cheek softly, smiling indulgently at her as she squirmed slightly in the seat next to him.
Meanwhile, Freya and Josh had arrived back at the hotel at just before 12.30. He was feeling a little nervous as his fingers touched the tiny, square box just to make sure that it was still there.
Freya looked at him with a sparkle in her eye. 'Bed?'
Josh nodded and took hold of her hand, leading the way into the hotel. As he opened the door to their room, a satisfied smile spread across his face. The hotel staff had done as he'd requested. In the corner of the room sat a bottle of champagne cooling ready in an ice-bucket, two flutes sitting next to it. Laying on the small table next to the champagne was a beautiful bouquet of red roses, the scent pervading throughout the room.
Freya looked curiously at Josh. 'Ooh.. what's going on here? What's with the romantic stuff?'
He closed the door softly behind her and gave her a nervous smile. 'Because you deserve it. Come on, do you fancy a glass?' he walked over to the table and began to peel the foil from the top of the bottle. He popped the cork, pouring the amber liquid into the glasses one by one and handed her a glass as she perched at the end of their king-size bed.
'Nice roses,' she commented, looking over at the ruby coloured blooms. 'Are they for me?'
Josh nodded. 'Beautiful flowers for my beautiful girl,' he said, colouring slightly at saying something so corny to her.
'Thank you Josh. You didn't need to do all this for me,' she said, looking over at them, her eyes running appreciatively over the flowers as she thought how pretty they were.
'Cheers.' Clinking glasses with her, he took a deep glug of the liquid, the bubbles dancing on his tongue as he swallowed it. He looked at her expectantly, waiting for her to swallow her drink before he spoke again, his voice betraying a sudden rush of nerves. 'Freya...'
'Yes?' Freya suddenly had an inkling as to where this was leading, her heart beating faster in her chest as she saw Josh suddenly drop onto one knee in front of her.
'Freya. I love you.' He licked his lips nervously and looked up at her, taking her left hand in his and putting the glass down so he could retrieve the box from his pocket.
'Josh. I love you too. Very much.'
'Freya.' Josh's fingers closed around the box, tugging it out of his pocket as he attempted to swallow his nerves and try again. 'Freya. You mean so much to me. Will you marry me?' He opened the box so she could see the ring sparkling away.
Her hand fluttered up to rest below the hollow in her neck. 'Oh my God...' she whispered, an incredulous expression on her face. 'Wow! That's a beautiful ring.'
'Will you?' Josh persisted, kissing her hand and holding out the ring ready to slip onto her finger.
'Yes.' Freya replied, flinging her arms around his neck. 'Yes, I'll marry you. Of course I'll marry you, Josh!'
