Jason stood uncertainly for a moment on the platform, his mind in a whirl as to what to do next. He'd been sure that he'd be able to catch up with her and convince her to stay and talk to him.

His mind made up, he made his way back through the station, vaulting over the gate again as before and sprinting back out to the car. He made his way through the busy streets of Manchester, his fingers drumming on the steering wheel in annoyance at the heavy traffic.

When he made it on the motorway he was relieved to see that the traffic was relatively lighter and he managed to do a steady 70mph. His heart quickened as he caught a glimpse of the Virgin Train making it's way out of Manchester. He was certain this was the very train Lexi was sitting on right at that moment and felt somehow closer to her as the car followed the same journey as her.

Lexi stared listlessly out of the window. She still felt shaky and nauseous, but the feeling was nowhere near as bad as it had been at Steve and Pat's house. Taking her mobile phone out of her bag she took a deep breath and sent her mum a message to say that she would be coming back home. She couldn't face talking to her mum, as she knew that Anna would give her the third degree and she wasn't ready to tell her that she'd given Jason's Engagement Ring back to Steve. Not yet. Pressing send she noticed that there was a missed call on her phone from Jason, along with a voicemail asking her to wait at the flat and not leave for the station. She realised he must have left it on her phone when she was on her way back to the flat to pack. She could tell by the tone of his voice that he was devastated, his voice shaking with emotion as he told her he loved her.

The train pulled into the first station and Lexi hesitated, her heart telling her to get off the train, go find Jason and listen to what he had to say. Her mind reminded her of what he had done, blabbing out his thoughts to everyone and humiliating her. Fresh tears came to her eyes as her heart and mind fought with each other over what she should do, until her mind won the fight. She wiped the tears away from her eyes and hurriedly switched her mobile off, not wanting to speak to anyone until she was ready.

Jason cursed under his breath as the traffic slowed to a snail's pace, until it gradually came to a stand still. He could see blue lights flashing in the distance and assumed there must be an accident ahead, which had stopped the traffic.

Eventually the traffic started to crawl forward and he saw the blue lights disappearing into the distance, a sure sign that some poor soul was on their way to hospital.

He was well on his way an hour later, the lights of Birmingham were behind him and he was drawing ever closer to London and his beloved Lexi. Jumping with surprise, he suddenly saw a blue light flash in his rear-view mirror and realised with a sinking heart that a police car had pulled in behind him and was flashing at him to pull over. He swiftly tried to work out in his head whether he'd had too much to drink, wondering if that was why they were pulling him over. Pulling over, he looked into his side-view mirror and watched a Police woman get out of the car, indicating for him to wind the window down so she could talk to him.

'Can I help you?' He looked at the Police Woman, fixing her with the dazzling smile which he knew a lot of women couldn't resist.

'Yes sir. Have you been drinking?' The woman was a heavy metal fan and had no clue that she was in the company of a famous man. She looked at him, thinking he was a good looking man, but it was a shame he had a line of dried snot under his nose, streaking up his cheek, which he obviously didn't know was there. She noted his eyes were red-ringed too, like he'd been crying fairly recently and correctly assumed the snot was from the crying episode.

'I've only had one glass officer.' Jason's mega-watt smile slipped a little when he realised the woman hadn't a clue who he was - so his fame wasn't going to get him any leniency, he thought to himself.
