His words made me nervous.

"Your sister and I-" I started. I took a step back.

"I've already talked to her."

"What do you want to talk about?" I asked trying to act normal.

"I know Mary." My heart started to beat faster, harder and louder. I swear he could hear it. I controlled my breathing. He couldn't know. I didn't want to believe he knew.

"Know what?" I tried playing dumb.

"Rayne, don't play stupid with me."

My eyes snapped up to meet his when he said that name and I flinched, again. I couldn't read what he was thinking.

"You're angry." I said.

"No, actually. I'm not. I'm just upset you didn't tell me. That you kept it from me."

"My dad would've killed you. He almost did. He killed your brother." I said.

"I don't care, I could've helped you."

Tears formed behind my eyes. My voice wavered as I spoke, " So this is the part were you tell me you hate me and never want to see me again." I didn't even say it as a question. He wouldn't want anything to do with me after what I put him threw.

He walked into the room so he was standing right in front of me.

"Never." he said softly.

"But what I did, what I put you through. It was wrong."

"We've all done things we're not proud of. Mistakes happen. You did it to protect us. I saw how much it hurt you to pretend. To drop everything and become someone else." he picked up a strand of my blonde hair, then he let it fall back down.

"I'm sorry." my voice broke on 'sorry' and I started to cry. Rocky pulled me to his chest, hugging me and stroked my hair. I kept mumbling how sorry I was over and over again.

"It's okay. I forgive you. Please never do it again. I don't think I could ever lose you again." he said.

When I looked up him he kissed me. Long and slow. By the time he pulled away I was breathless.

"I missed that." he said.

"Me too."

We smiled together. Something I've missed.

"How are we going to tell everybody else?" I was suddenly scared again.

"They won't be upset. They'll probably be happy."

"I have to tell them, right?"

"Yes, but first." He pulled something out of his pocket. "I've been waiting to get it to you once you were back."

He took my hand opened my palm then shut it again. I open it and saw necklace with a heart charm. It was silver and had vines leading to another heart, but this one was smaller and was yellow. The yellow topaz. Rocky and I's birthstone.

He put it around my neck, "I was going to give it to you for your birthday, but you were. . ." he didn't finished the sentence.

I nodded, "Thank you."

We left the room and went down to the living room, I stopped at the threshold as Rocky continued in. Everybody was in there. My breath hitched. I guess I was telling them now. They were all looking at me waiting.

I took a deep breath.

"I have to tell you all something. Something I should've done long ago. I'm Rayne. I died and cut my hair. I was going to leave, but I couldn't. I should've never done it, but these people were after me. They were going to kill me or anyone near me. They were the ones who killed Ross. I understand if you never want to see me again. I'll leave," I saw Rocky about to protest but I continued. " I'm sorry."

Stromie came over to me and I expected her to yell at me and tell me how much she hated me for hurting her son and getting another killed. I was shocked when she hug me and I tensed, unknowingly.

"I'm just happy you're back." she let go and went back over and sat with the others. Let's just say, it was super awkward. After a few seconds everybody went back to doing what they were doing earlier. Rocky came over me, we put our coats and boots on and went outside.

"Told you they wouldn't be angry." We stood looking out towards the mountains.

"I was surprised they weren't."

"Why would they be?"

"Because I got their son killed."

"It wasn't your fault."

"Yes it was, he died because I couldn't save him."

"Don't blame yourself."

"What else is there to do?"

"You could be my girlfriend again." when I looked over at him he was looking down at the ground, his face red.

"I'd love to."

I took his hand in mine and kissed him. When I pulled away a noise that will forever haunt me filled my ears.

I opened my eyes to see Rocky fall to the ground. The noises echoed. I looked over, the person was gone but I knew exactly who did this. I kneeled down beside Rocky. Dark red blood pooled into the prue white snow.

I shook Rocky's shoulders, "Rocky. Rocky. Rocky!" I began to cry. "Don't leave me. Please, don't leave me. I need you. I need you. Please." The cold wind of winter hit my face drying the tears. "Rocky?" I said quietly.

I put my ear to his chest listening for a heart beat.

There was none.
