Chapter Seventeen

I finished my shower and dresses in Sabrina's blue v-neck. We all decide to sit in the living room to hear what I came to tell them. Sabrina sits next to Noah and he puts his arm around her. She stiffens but relaxes after a little bit.

"So Kaitlin you had to have come here for a reason, after all I don't think you would have risked it if you didn't."

"I have news on the king."I think of how to say it without sounding stupid.

"Do tell," Noah said, eyes widening.

"Noah stop staring at the poor girl's butt." I hear Jackson say.

"I'm his cousin!" I scream back to Jackson as he blushes.

"You scared her Noah, are you proud of yourself?" I was on edge from how Noah had acted but I don't get scared.

"Guys let's get back on topic please," Sabrina said annoyed.

"Sabrina," I paused not knowing how to word it. "The King is human."

"Well I never would have guessed," Jackson said with an attitude.

"Jackson if you interrupt me one more time I'll break your spine," I didn't even look up at him as I spoke. "The King is using magic manipulation to get what he wants from Faes." Jackson stared at me with big eyes.

"Ok ok. Since when were you so fiesty?" I looked a Jackson trying to kill him with my eyes.

"Have you met me?" I saw that The King had something more important in his eyes, "Anyway I know you are meeting tomorrow-well everyone in the palace knows really," there had been rumors of it ever scene The King meet her during the ball. "I was just coming here to warn you." I sigh and look up at the clock. "I've really got to be going," I said standing up.

Noah grabs my arm as I walk through the door. "We need to talk," Noah said as his face and tone grew serious.

"No, no we don't," it wasn't a suggestion but more of a command.

I walk out and Jackson gets up and follows me. "You're being very rude today," his words were just asking for a rant.

I sigh, "I'm just tired of him running my life." Jackson goes to speak but I beat him to it, "I would think about the next words that come out of your mouth very carefully. I will break your spine."

"Okay, okay grumpy."

I roll my eyes. "You're a lot like your brother in some ways," he looks at me funny, "I mean he's nice when it's just us two, an-" he breaks out into laughter.

"Well, I wonder why," I roll my eyes.

"And horrible with other people," he shakes his head in agreement. "But you're just horrible with everyone," he stops laughing and I let out a giggle or two. ______________________________________________________________________

"So when is your mom coming back?" I have been thinking about what she would be like ever scene this morning.

Jackson gulped, "she just got back, but she is going to be leaving in another few days."

I sighed, "why does no one tell me anything." The castle was buzzing with people today.

Mason ran over to us, "Kaitlin where have you been all morning?" I was so relieved to hear that Mason didn't know. Jackson opened his mouth to reply for me but Mason continued to speak, "I really don't care."

"Then why did you ask." Jackson walked away, trying to avoid the drama.

"I don't know, trying to nice," I rolled my eyes. "Anyway my dad has asked to meet with us." My breath stopped, my heart raced, my mind left. "You okay?"
