I shot out of my bed, my vision slowly coming back to me. I swing my legs or the side of my bed and try to stand up but I just fall flat on my back. "You gotta stop beating yourself up," Ash said as he walked to the foot of my bed and sat down. "Next time don't lie to my face," his smile was warm yet distant like he was thinking I would never come back.

"How far did I fall?" I sit back up and accidentally kick Mason who had fallen asleep at the side of my bed. I look down at him a smile.

I turn my gaze back to Ash who has a grim look on his face. "20 feet. You hit your head on the way down and blacked out but when you landed your ankle, almost broke."

"Then how did I get here?"

Ash looks down at Mason, "he found you and brought you back," A shy smile grows on my face. I'm just happy that it was Mason who found me. That he ran after me. "Kat," I don't give him any looks this time when he calls me that. I only look up at him and smile, "do you want to talk about it?" the smile on my face disappears.

"Talk about what, Ash?" my voice was still, like I was in a trance of some kind. It horrified me.

"Mason told me what happened," I pin my feet to the bed to keep from kicking Mason in the head. "Come on Kat we always talk thru these kind of things." Memories flash thru my eyes. Every night terror, every vision, every hallucination Ash was always the first person I saw when I woke up. We would alway get a mug of hot chocolate and stay up for hours talking. We started with me telling him what I saw but then we would horrible it was Noah I would talk to and now, now it is Mason.

I took a deep breath and told him everything. I told him about the shadows, the screams, the words they said to me. And after everything was out I told him about what Noah and I had done over the years. I told him the scares that we now laughed at. And at two in the morning when we were done with catching up we reminisced about our life before this. The early mornings, the paperwork, the training, and the dates he was forced to go on (that I had to watch). We shared stories and laughs about what happened in our lives. And we didn't stop, we talked the entire night away as if we were the sun and the memories and scars were the moon.

It was the best night I have had in years, and all I needed was Ash sitting there like it was ten years ago.

I fell a small wiggle at my feet. "Morning sleepy head," Mason's hair was a wreck, it looked like a furry bush. He had a murderous gleam that seemed somewhat hopeful.

"You literally gave me a heart attack," he stands up with a yawn, "don't ever do that again." He sits down on the opposite side of Ash. "So, this is what you did when you were younger," we both look at him with a confused expression. "Stay up all night talking."

"Sort of but when we were younger we would walk the grounds with hot chocolate while we talked," I smile. So, Ash must of cherished those memories to.

"And we didn't have to deal with all the snoring," I chuckle.

"I don't snore," he rolled his eyes. He definitely did snore. It sounded as if The King had sent a firing squad to shoot at the palace walls.

"Yes, yes you do," Ash said leaning forward.

"Well," Mason hummed as he looked outside, "I should get going. I would be much better if I was away from all this negativity," he said standing up.

"You should come with us to breakfast, Kat," Ash offers as Mason throws me an odd look.

"I've been trying to get her to come forever," Mason exaggerated.

I clear my thought and put on a wicked smile. "A) you never asked, and B) I'm normally of training or something," Mason blushes, "and C)," Mason now looks more angry than embarrassed, "I've only been at the palace for a couple weeks." Ash chuckles.

"It's felt like forever," Mason talks in a mumble forgetting that Ash and I are both Fae.

"Well, would you like to come then?" Ash offers me his hand but I push it down.

"I can get up on my own," Ash rolls his eyes. I manage to stand for a split second before crashing to the floor.

"Moron," Ash whispers under his breath as I curse.

Mason runs over to me and supports me on his shoulder. "Good Gods by the time I'm King," Ash's face goes into worry, "You'll be dead." Mason talked with such a careless tone but Ash and I's life flashed before our eyes.
Ash's gaze met mine, I'll snap his neck... if you want.

Why do you and your brother always try to take me job? No that would Leave Jackson as the next King. Even though he's Fae he would make a horrible King.

Ash's eyes widened, What!

I'll tell you later.

Mason finally got it, "Oh Gods I was joking." I throw him a reassuring smile that Ash didn't like very much.

"I'll take her," Mason looks at Ash as if he was just barely holding himself back from choking him. "You wouldn't want The King to see it and fire her or," Ash choked, "call her back again." How did he know that's why The King had me whipped. I shift over to Ash's shoulder and the tree of us walk down the hall, the morning sun radiating of the cream looking floor.
