Unexpected (Vampire Diaries Fanfic)

Founders day

Today's founders day. Stefan and Damon have a feeling either the tomb vampires or the founders are going to make a move today.

Elena and Caroline are in the founder's parade so Stefan and Damon are in charge of babysitting me, I'm not that fragile but they don't care.

I got dressed for the fair while Damon waited downstairs. I went down the stairs and Damon was waiting.

"Ok let's go" he said grabbing my hand. "Damon I don't need a babysitter!" I yelled at him. He looked at me and rolled his eyes.

 "One of the tomb vampires attacked your parents and you saw them, your a target" he told me.

"Ugh fine" I said sighing and got into his car. I sat there in defiance, staying quiet. Damon looked at me and sighed.

"I know it bugs you but you need to get over it, your my best friend and you're not getting hurt" he told me. 

I put my hand on his arm touched. "Ok fine I'll let you baby me you big idiot" I said laughing.

He grinned and we pulled up to the place where the festivities were.  

I slammed the door and we met Stefan in the square. I looked and saw Elena and Caroline getting onto the float for the parade. 

Tyler and his class were creating one of the civil war battles and he was dressed up as a soldier. He looked so cute in his uniform.

I gave him a hug before he went on the float and then the parade started. We watched the floats go by. Caroline looked really pretty, she made Ms.Mystic Falls.

Stefan and Damon were staring at Elena with a look of shock on their faces. "Whats wrong?" I asked Stefan. "She looks just like Katherine did in 1864 with that dress and the hair" Stefan said completely dazed.

"Make sure you don't say that to her" I told him sternly and he nodded "Of course she would freak" he said.

When the parade was over everyone was at the booths and having fun. Damon went to go check something out so me, Stefan, and Elena stayed on watch.

All of a sudden Stefan dropped to the ground holding his ears. "Stefan whats wrong!" Elena yelled holding his shoulders. 

I saw a few other people fall to the ground. "Whats going on!" I yelled. I saw police officers dragging people who fell away.

A cop saw Stefan and started heading over but was stopped by Alaric. "I got this one, there's more over there" he told him and the guy bought it.

"Their rounding up the vampires" Alaric told us. "How Bonnie despelled the Gilbert device?" Elena said confused. I looked at her "Maybe she didn't" I told her but Elena shook her head.

"Bonnie wouldn't do that" she told me. "Think about it Bonnie hate vampires, would she help them?" I told her and Elena looked alarmed.

"They're taking them to one of the Gilbert building and they already have Damon" he told us. "I'm going to get him" Stefan said running before we could stop him. 

If Damon's dead I don't know what I'll do.

We saw John Gilbert on the way there "Wheres Damon" I asked him angrily. "Where he should be, with the others, its over for Damon" he answered. "You're crazy!" Elena cried.

"Why? because I'm doing what should have been done 140 years ago, this is the right thing Elena" he told us condescendingly. 

He looked at Stefan "Go ahead, you won't make it out, you'll save me the trouble of killing you myself and what a shame that would be" he said.

Elena pointed toward the side of the building "Stefan there's another entrance over here" she told him and he nodded and ran to it.

She went after him but John grabbed her arm. "Take another step and I'll have those deputy's shoots him" he threatened her.

"Please I'm asking you not to" she pleaded. "That means nothing" he told her coldly. "As my father, it should mean something" she told him defiantly. He looked at her shocked.

"You know?" he asked astounded. Elena nodded "I wasn't sure though until now" she told him. We walked past him but I looked at him "You're an ass hole" I told him as we walked by and he nodded.

We headed after Stefan and went to the side of the building where they were holding them. When we got there we saw Bonnie.

"Bonnie how could you!" Elena cried. "I couldn't help them, Elena I'm sorry" she told her sadly. Elena was about to go in after Stefan but Bonnie grabbed her arm.

She started muttering some words and then she let Elena go. A minute later Stefan came out with Damon who looked like he was going to pass out.

I ran forward and hugged him. "I thought you were dead" I cried hugging him and he hugged me back weakly.

We helped him out and sat him down. "Anna was in there and so was Mayor Lockwood, their all dead" he told us. "Jeremy going to be devastated" Elena said.

So all the tomb vampires are dead well at least there's that. Elena went to see Jeremy and I stayed with Damon and Stefan.

Stefan got up "I'm gonna check on Bonnie" he said leaving. Elena came back and said Jeremy's coming home later and he doesn't want to talk.

Damon drove me and Elena home and I went inside. They were out there for awhile and I saw them kissing. I was in shock and when Elena came back in she avoided my eyes.

When we went into the kitchen we started making dinner. John walked in shyly and started talking.

"You know I first met your birth mom she and I were teens, I fell for her but I think she just tolerated me, that's why I hate vampires, because they ruined her but I'm telling you this so you'll understand" he told her. "Thank you" Elena said quietly.

"Can I help?" he asked. "Sure" Elena said quietly. All of a sudden Elena picked up the knife and chopped Johns fingers off. I screamed as John clutched his hand as it gushed blood. This wasn't Elena, she would never do something like this even to a scum bag like John.

"Katherine" he said in agony. Her eyes grew black and had veins around them, a vampire. "Hi John and bye John" she said slyly and stabbed him in the stomach. I heard the door open and I heard Elena call "Jess? Jeremy?". 

"Elena!" I shrieked and Elena ran in.

 She gasped when she saw John. "Elena, Katherine was here pretending to be you" I told her as I tried to stop the bleeding. 

Elena called 911 and John was gasping "Behind you" and we jumped up but nobody was behind us. I couldn't see Katherine anywhere.

"Jeremy" Elena said and we ran up the stairs to see if he was ok. He was laying completely still on the bed and Elena shook his shoulders. He opened his eyes with a gasp.
