Unexpected (Vampire Diaries Fanfic)

The morning after

I woke up the next morning completely cold inside.

 I felt like everything was falling apart and i'm holding on by a thin thread.

 I keep seeing it no matter how many times I try to stop it.

 I see myself going into my parents room and them lying dead in a pool of blood. 

I couldn't go back in there last night, I was on the verge of collapsing when the police showed up. 

They wanted me to go inside with them and show them everything but I couldn't so Damon and Stefan did while I played on the couch in shock. 

There was a knock on the door that shook me from my thoughts.

 Jenna pocked her head in. "Hey Jess how are you feeling?" she asked me cautiously.

 I looked at her "No i'm not but I will be" I told her, my voice completely numb. 

She walked into the room and sat on the edge of the bed.

 "I know this might not make you feel better but your parents wanted me to watch out for you and take care of you, so I will always be here for you" She told me sincerely. 

I looked at her "I know and i'm grateful" I told her. 

"Child Protective Services called this morning and their coming by later to have me sign the papers that gives me custody of you" she said.

 I nodded and the took my hand. "Its going to be ok I promise" she told me.

 She then got up and closed the door behind her.

I played back down and pulled the covers over me.

 I leaned over and looked towards the side window with the light streaming to the window.

I played there just like that for an hour until I heard the door open and someone walk in. 

I looked over and saw Ty. He lifted up the blankets and played down next to me.

 I had my back to him. He gently turned me over and looked at me. "Are you ok?" he asked me. 

"Why do people keep asking that when they already know the answer" I asked him.

"I don't know, it just seems like the thing to say" he said thoughtfully. 

He put his arm around me and I played my head on his chest. 

He started to play with my hair and it felt nice.

We just played there for awhile, he could tell that I wasn't in the mood for talking right now.

Everyone was giving me space and I appreciated it, but I could hear them all talking downstairs. 

Its nice to have people who care when I need them.

I got up and looked at Ty. "I'm gonna get dressed meet you downstairs ok?" I told him. 

"Yeah sure i'll go wait down there" he said kissing my forehead.

He walked out of the room and I could hear him going  down the stairs.

I threw some clothes on and went into the bathroom and splashed some water on my face.

 I looked in the mirror and saw my face. My eyes were red from crying last night and my face was very pale.

 I put a brush through my hair and brushed my teeth. 

I walked down the stairs and saw everyone waiting down there for me.

I walked on and tried to avert my eyes, I don't want to see the pitying looks on their faces.

Elena walked over when she saw me "Do you want to eat something" she asked me concerned. 

I shook my head. I walked over to the empty seat on the couch beside Damon.

Everyone talked and hustled around me.

 At one a person from CPS came by and had Jenna sign some papers to certify her being my guardian, so now i'm an official member of the Gilbert household.

Tyler,Matt,Damon,Jeremy,and Stefan and I went over and I picked the things that I wanted from my old house. The town was taking possession of it now so I needed to get my things out.

They cleaned up the crime scene so I was able to go into my parents room ow.

I went into my mom closet and grabbed her jewelry box. 

I found their wedding rings on the night stand and I put them in the box. 

I grabbed my dads favorite t-shirt and his cologne bottle. 

I grabbed the photo albums and the time capsule that my mom had stored in the back of her closet.

I took all the little things that would remind me of my parents and what they would have wanted me to have.

The guys grabbed all the stuff from my room and put it into my new room at the Gilbert house.

We got it all moved over pretty fast, especially when Jenna's boyfriend Mr.Saltzman or Rick, he makes me call him that now when we're not in school, he came over and helped finish moving things.

Jenna and Rick had to go somewhere tonight so the guys stayed over to fill me in on everything thats been going on with the supernatural that they've kept from me.
