Sun and Moon Curse

When we walked back into the other room Vanessa looked at Elena. I then realized something. "Elena she thinks your Katherine" I told her.

Elena went over to her "I'm Elena Gilbert, Isobels daughter and a descendant of Katherine Pierce" Elena explained.

I pointed to Damon "This is Damon Salvatore, who you just shot, thanks for that by the way, now I have to hear his mouth all the way home" I told her snarkily. 

Damon raised his hand at the mention of his name "I'd be extra nice to me right now" he told her with a dangerous look in his eye.

"Look we need your help, ok, we need to see Isobel's research, anything related to Mystic Falls" she told her.

"Ok" she said and got up and started showing us some files. I was going through a box when she came over with a big one.

"This one tracks Katherine's arrival to Mystic Falls in 1864" she said giving it to Elena. Elena took it from her "Is that all there is on her?" she asked. She nodded "All that I'm aware of" she said and then looked over at Damon scared.

Elena sighed and reached into her pocket and handed her a piece of vervain "Here, take this". She smiled and took it "Does vervain really work?" she asked.

Elena and I nodded but Damon yelled from across the room "Nope, not at all". I rolled my eyes. "Can he hear us" she asked. Damon whispered back "No that would be creepy" he answered. Elena nodded. "Can he read minds too?" she asked us and again Damon answered "You know, if you want to see me naked, all you have to do is ask" he called to her.

"No he can't" I told her. "But he is very capable of being a first-rate jackass" Elena replied. "I heard that" he yelled. "You were meant to" I told him. 

I shifted over to where Rick was and helped him look over there. "So do you think those two are going to kill each other by the end of the day" I said pointing at Damon and Elena.

He shrugged "I don't know and if they do my money on Elena kicking his ass" he said. I nodded agreeing.

"So how do you feel seeing all of Isobel's things?" I asked him. He looked thoughtful for a moment "It's strange. I'm finding out so many things about her that I didn't know" he replied.

"Yeah, I don't know how I would feel if the person I loved disappeared like that". He nodded "It sucks, it really does" he explained.

We were checking out a book when Rick suddenly said "Hey guys come check this out" and we all went over to see what he found. 

Vanessa held out a book to Elena "There's no record of werewolves in Mystic Falls but take a look at this" she said. "These are some records of the lesser known legends, everything from Scandinavian Skinwalkers to the vampires" she said pointing at some pictures.

"This translates to the curse of the Sun and the Moon, it explains the origins of the werewolf curse. The shorts story is that 600 years ago the Aztecs were plagued with werewolves and vampires. So an Aztec shaman cursed them, making the vampires slaves to the sun and werewolves servants to the moon" she explained.

"After centuries werewolves are hardwired to hunt their prey of choice, vampires" she said. Damon looked at her "Well if werewolves were hunting vampires I'd know about it" he told her.

She shook her head "Not if there weren't that many werewolves left alive, hundreds of years ago the vampires hunted werewolves to extinction" she said

"Why?" I asked. "To protect themselves I guess" Rick replied. "Legend has it that a werewolf bite is fatal to vampires" she explained.

"Well that's not good" Damon said leaning back into a chair. "No shit" I replied. Elena pulled out her phone and called Stefan and explained about the werewolf bite and to beware of Mason Lockwood.

She hung up and we got back to work. She started to talk to Vanessa about doppelgangers. "So have you done any research on them?" she asked her. "Typically a doppelganger is a living, breathing, double of yourself" she explained. "Did Isobel have anything to explain the link between me and Katherine?" she asked her.

She pointed at the box Elena had "Unfortunately thats all the information that we have on Katherine Pierce, but I can tell you that doppelgangers usually torment the people that they look like, trying to mess with their lives" she told her.

"More things we already know" I replied. "I just want to know why we look alike" Elena huffed. "Headscratcher isn't it" Damon said. "Do you know something we don't or are you just being yourself?" Elena asked him frustrated.

"Well if I know anything I'm not going to tell you with that attitude" he said. "Damon remember what I said about reigning in your assholeness for the day" I told him.

He gave me a look and I returned it angrily. He sighed "Fine Katherine once told me that her last name was Petrova" he said pulling a leather-bound book off one of the shelves. "She was from Europe, her real name was Katarina Petrova" he told her.

We helped Vanessa put the boxes and files away and said goodbye. It's going to be a long drive home. 

After two hours of driving Rick pulled up to the house and I hopped out and ran inside because I had to pee so badly.

When my torment was over I put on my pajamas and got into bed. Elena came into my room. "Whats up?" I asked her. She looked sad "Damon told me that he didn't know that Jeremy had his ring on" she said.

She sat on my bed and I put my arm around her shoulder. "He didn't mean it, and you know that. He was just so upset. You know what love can do to people" I told her.

"I know" she sighed. "You want to sleep in here, I'm kinda scared Katherine will come in and kill me in my sleep" I told her. She smiled "Of course". Five minutes later we were both out like a light.
