xi. dead or alive

Vanessa's POV

I've decided to stay at my unit rather than to stay at my mansion, my uncle isn't staying there anymore so why would I stay?

He needs to be away from me for now. I don't want him to be part of this commotion, the traitor might use him against me, to bring me down

A while ago, while we were at the hospital Eric saw everything. I tried to talk to him but unfortunately he ran away and ignored me

Axel assured me that everything's gonna be alright, he said that maybe Eric wasn't expecting what he saw. I couldn't help not to sigh

I understand Eric, it's just—we need to talk. He shouldn't ignore me, instead of running away from or even ignoring me. Why don't we just talk? To solve this goddamn problem.

I shooked my head. Axel dropped me off here in my unit, my brows furrowed when he suddenly disappear

But it's not new to me, he always appear then disappear and then appear again and disappear again. Just like a freakin dolphin. Tss.

I'm wearing my bathrobe while looking at nowhere. I'm near the window, looking at the sky. I took a glance at my phone, I heavily sighed.

I dialed Eric's number as I clench my fist. After several rings he answered the call [Hmm?]

"Hey," I smiled weakly "How are you? You ran away a while ago."

[Ahh.] I heard he say [Wala lang, may importante lang akong ginawa kanina.]

He cleared his throat, [N-nasaan ka? Wala ka sa bahay.]

Was he looking for me? "I'm at my unit, I've decided to stay here for now." I simply said "Were you looking for me?"

[H-hinatid ka ba nung b-boyfriend mo?] My brows furrowed, he's stuttering

"What? He's not my boyfriend but yes, he dropped me off. Why are you stuttering anyways? Are you sick?"

[Tsk, hindi boyfriend.] My eyebrows raised

"Why do you seem irritated?" He didn't answer "May problema ba tayo?"

[Ikaw ang problema, Vanessa!] He said in his loud tone [Hindi mag boyfriend pero gano'n umakto? Ha!] He sounds like my uncle

"Come on, Eric. You don't understa—"

[Oo, bobo ako! Oo, tanga ako! Pero hindi ako bulag at manhid, Vanessa!]

I bit my lip. What the hell is happening to you Eric? Hindi ka naman ganito.

"Seriously, what the hell is your problem? What the heck are you trying to say?" Calm down, Vanessa. It's you friend, Eric. Calm fucking down.

[Alam mong kaibigan kita at importante ka sa akin!] His voice cracked [H-hindi mo man lang ba naisip na mag dahan dahan muna?] He's . . . crying

[Mahalaga ka s-sa'kin, alam mo yan. Kaya hindi ko matanggap na may lalaki ka ng tinanggap sa buhay mo ng hindi ko n-nalalaman,]

"You don't need to know everything, Eric. This is my life." Matigas kong ani

[Oo, buhay mo 'yan. Pero kaibigan kita!] I sighed [Alam mo kung anong i-ikinakatakot ko, Vanessa.] He's crying right now.

[—hindi ko kayang m-masaktan ka, Vanessa.]

I shooked my head [K-kaibigan kita at alam mong m-mahalaga ka sa'kin, hindi ko kayang makita kang masaktan nang dahil lang sa i-isang lalaki.]

"He won't hurt me," I whisper

[Sorry kung pinapakealaman ko ang buhay mo,] I looked away [Ayoko lang m-masaktan ang kaibigan ko.]

I was about to say something but he already ended the call "Eric? Eric?!" I clenched my fist "Damn it!" I slammed my window

Little did I know, there's already a tear coming from my eyes.

Third Person's POV

HALOS LAHAT ng tao ay nagkakagulo sa War Field. Hindi nila maiwasan mag bulungan kung anong nangyayari.

Biglang tinawag ni Vanessa ang kaniyang mga kaibigan papuntang War Field kanina, at may isang tauhan na nakarinig na may traydor daw sa puder ng mga Briones!

"Queen, what's the plan?" Tanong ni Jamie. Kagabi din ay nakauwi na si Cathy at kahit papaano maayos ayos na ang pakiramdam nito

She needed to rest at mukhang nabawi na 'yon. "May t-traydor sa puder natin?" Hindi makapaniwalang tanong ni Cathy "W-what . . ."

"Yes, there is." Vanessa crosses her legs "Our plan? Of course we will kill him and make him suffer, simple as that."

Humalakhak ito "Sino ang traydor, Queen?" Matigas na tanong ni Cathy

"That's the question," she smirked "Who's the traitor, Cathy?" Bigla itong tumingin kay Jamie "Hmm?"

Nakaramdam ng kaba si Jamie, "H-hindi ako sigurado, Queen." Saad ni Cathy

"Ako 'din, Queen." Ani ni Jamie

"Well then," tumayo ito "I already know who the traitor is. All we have to do is to trick him."

Napakunot ng noo ang mga dalaga "Once you figure out who the damn traitor is, you will bring the traitor here in this field."

She stared at Jamie's eyes "Dead or alive."

Someone's POV

"Ayusin mo ang trabaho mo," sabi ko sa kan'ya "Katulad nang napag usapan na'tin, gawin mo ang paraan para maiwasan ang reyna."

Sinamaan n'ya ako ng tingin "Sa oras na malaman n'ya ang kahayupan mo, mapapatay ka n'ya." Agad ko s'yang sinampal "H-hayop ka!"

Tumawa ako "Umayos ka," seryoso kong saad "Isang maling galaw mo lang," nginisian ko s'ya "Sisiguraduhin kong masisira kita."

Kaagad s'yang tumayo at umalis na, kinuha ko ang telepono ko at tinawagan ang isa sa mga g'wardya

"Umalis na s'ya," saad ko "Bantayan n'yo ng maigi ang gago." Binaba ko na ang tawag bago pa s'ya mag salita mula sa kabilang linya

'Reyna? Kalokohan.'
