Well This Sucks

PIERS' P.O.V.
"Okay guys these zombies are getting faster and stronger we don't know how or why but keep your guard up and don't wonder away from the rest of the group. Now let's start heading for the hospital." We all get in the car and it's pretty much a silent drive all the way to the hospital. The only time anyone spoke a word was just to give orders to someone else so in my case I stayed silent and just nodded my head. Once we got there we all got out of the car and headed for the doors.

"Okay guys we need all of the medicine that we can get, the safe zone is running out of a lot of things but this is the most important one right now."

"What's it matter its not like we have the cure, were all just going to die eventually." Some random guy that came with us said, he was with one of the newest groups that joined the safe zone, but that didn't matter our leader, at least for this run threw him up against the wall and hand his forearm at the guys throat.

"That maybe true but we don't want to die we rather stay alive and try to see what the world will be like after all of this is over." The leader said anger filling his voice, the guy stayed silent just like the rest of us.

"We also have to keep moving because those things are right behind us you got that?" Then he lets go of him and starts walking into the hallways of the hospital and we follow close behind him. We turn on our flashlights because it starts getting dark outside and the hospital was already dark enough since it doesn't have power.

"Piers I need you and the new guy over here to stick together." I just roll my eyes and walk over to him and continue walking with the rest of the group waiting for orders. After we get up to the third floor we start to split up but we don't go far from each other just me and Mike aka the new guy went into the medicine room which has a lock on it to where you need to type in a code luckily for us a person at the safe house worked here and gave us the codes but she didn't feel like coming back here.

"Try to avoid using your guns if possible. Piers you and Mike go and get the medicine and all of the medical supplies while the rest of us stand guard."

"Yes sir." I say typing in the code and walking in.

"So do we just take everything?" Mike asked, then I looked at him with a plain look on my face.

"What I was just asking." He says throwing his hands up in defeat and getting out his bag to put some medicine in.

"So you get the medical supplies and I'll get the medicine?" He asked, I just turned my head to look at him.

"Okay then... I'm just trying to make conversation."

"And I'm just trying to avoid making noise to where anyone or anything else but our team can hear."

"Oh come on I don't think that anyone or anything else is going to hear us."

"Oh well I don't want to risk it."

"Oh really? You don't want to risk it or you don't want to talk to me."

"Out of all honesty?"

"Yes be completely honest with me."

"Then fine, I just don't want to talk to you because your annoying and I don't know you, nor do I like you." After I said that I heard the rest of our team start laughing their heads off yet I managed to keep a straight face.

"Wow." He says looking at me.

"You told me to be completely honest with you and I was, now can you please do what your supposed to and stop distracting me?" Without saying anything he just turns back to the shelf's full of medicine and starts putting it in his bag. A while later when we are both putting the last of the supplies and medicine in our bags we hear all of our teams guns firing and some of them start screaming out in pain.

"Piers you get the rest of the supplies and medicine, I'm going to go help." Before I can get any words out Mike enters the code, opens the door, then walks out shooting. Then I just start throwing whatever I can in the bags and stop for a second to see Mike's dead body sliding down the clear door leaving blood running down it.

"Oh gosh, Piers what did you get yourself into." I said to myself then the shooting came to a complete stop and zombies were clawing at the door trying to get in. Realizing I probably wasn't ever going to get out of here, alive that is I just slid my back down the wall and stayed there, I wasn't even thinking about trying to contact anyone because the men that were with me were some of the best we had at the safe zone.

"Well this sucks."

JAKE'S P.O.V.
"I can't believe that they won't let us leave without a freaking group."

"No only that they said that we have to wait for the next run."

"Guys how long has it been since you've been on a run?" Leon asked leaning in the doorway of the kitchen where me and Alaina were talking.

"How long have you been standing there?" Alaina askes confused.

"Long enough. Guys listen I went on the last run they had and things are getting really bad out there.

"Oh come on its a zombie apocalypse Leon how could things get any worse?"

"No the zombies are getting faster and stronger making them harder to kill. I don't think that Maria, Lynn, and Max were Albert and William's only test subject for this new virus."

"Oh gosh." Alaina says getting lost in her thoughts, she is probably thinking about the worst but that's really all we can do to make sure that we can be prepared for it.

"Yeah they can run as fast as we can, and it is a real struggle to try and get them off of you once they have you in their grasp. Believe me I know."

"Did you almost get bit?"

"Yeah I almost did that's why I didn't even want to imagine going this time."

"Wait where did you guys go on your last run?"

"We were mainly just out wondering around going to different places, but this time they are going to a hospital where plenty of people have died at and plenty of people probably tried to go to but ended up not making it and if they did make it they most likely died before they got out."

"Oh no Piers went on the run to the freaking hospital today. I should have gone with him or at least got him to stay."

"Alaina you couldn't control if he stayed or not and I'm glad you didn't go. I don't want to lose you, you are way to important to this group and to me your like a sister to me." I said trying to comfort her.

"Dang it I just don't want to lose him." She said her voice full of sadness and then without thinking on how she would react I pulled her into a hug, she hesitated at first and then finally hugged back.

"Thank you." She said but it was muffled because her face was buried in my shoulder, when we pulled away she had tears in her eyes which made me want to pull her back into a hug but I didn't want her to feel weird and I didn't want Leon to feel weird either even though he probably already does.

"Well I'm gonna go Fatima wanted to hang out tonight." Leon says stepping out of the kitchen then walking out of the front door.

"Do you want me to stay here with you?" I asked looking down at Alaina, she just smiled.

"I'll be okay, but thanks."

"Okay just making sure, if you need me I'm just a couple of houses down." She just nods and then I start to walk out of the kitchen and open the front door.

"Hey Jake," She says stopping me, then I turn around and look at her.

"Alice is really lucky to have you, I just wanted you to know that, and I'm sorry if I ever seemed like I hated you or anything like that." She said with a friendly smile, I return her smile and then start to walk out.

"Thanks." I say and then give her one last look before I fully turn around and close the door.
