Getting Closer

ALAINA'S P.O.V.
After we all get done with breakfast me and Alice decided to do the dishes.

"Hey how about you two wash and we can dry and put them away." Piers said with Jake beside him.

"Sounds good to me." I scrubbed the dishes clean, Alice rinsed them off, Jake dried, and Piers put them away. But of course we didn't do this in silence. Alice dried off her hands and ran over to her phone and her speaker. She turned on the song 'Thumbs by Sabrina Carpenter'.

"When did you find this song?"

"It was a while ago."

"Oh yeah that sure narrows it down."

"Yep." She said with a laugh.

We all just danced to the song laughing and having more fun that I thought we would.

"So I'm supposed to go on a run pretty soon they said we are going to go around looking for all the weapons that we can find."

"Well that shouldn't take to long right?"

"Actually that's what I wanted to talk to you about. We are going to be gone for a few months."

"What?! Why that long?!"

"Because we are checking everywhere we possibly can."

"Well still Piers that's to long."

"Yeah I know it's a long time but we still have a bit to think about it if we are wanting to go or not."

"Well who all is going so far?"

"Me, Jason, Zach, Blake, Dawson,-"

"Wait our Blake and Dawson?" Alice asked cutting him off.

"Yes they said they were going to go this time."

"No they can't be serious about this."

"Alice they are both capable of taking care of themselves."

"I don't care they haven't been out there for a long time. They haven't even faced those infected with a different virus. They don't know what's out there."

"If you want to try and talk them out of it be my guest but I think their minds are made up."

"Wait if your going does that mean Alice has to go?" Jake asked finally getting a word in.

"If she wants to I don't think that they will make her go."

"But doesn't she always have to be near you?"

"Yeah so while I'm gone they will either have to assign her to someone else or trust her to be on her own."

"Oh yeah like they are going to trust me."

"You never know they might."

"Yeah we'll see." I really don't like the thought of Piers going back out there already I mean he just went on the last run and lost everyone. He is lucky to even be alive right now.

"If your going then I'm going with you."

"Alaina no!" Alice said already worrying about Dawson and Blake going.

"Seriously Alaina you don't have to if you don't want to."

"No I want to if your going to go someone has to look out for you whether you like it or not." After I said that he gave me a smile and I returned it.
