What Matters Is...

Who made You Smile again.❞

We both stand under the cherry blossom tree, staring at the night sky.

I lie down on the hill, with my back resting against the soft grass.

It wasn't long after until she chose to sit down next to me.

I adjusted my position so I was farther from her, but she moved closer.

Why won't you just leave me alone?

Why are you being so nice to me?

Why do you seem so familiar?

My brain is currently yelling at me to sit closer to her.

Why am I thinking like this?

Is it my hormones?

It probably is my hormones.

I shift uncomfortably and she immediately reacts.

"Oh-Did I do something wrong?" she says, getting up to her feet and scooting herself away from me.

"No, you didn't do anything wrong. It's just that I've never been this close to a girl before..." I say, scratching the back of my head with a sheepish smile.

She giggles.

"It's okay. I totally understand!" she says, still chuckling.

Her alluring laughs...

So familiar...

As if I heard them before...

Brain! Hormones! Whatever is doing this to me, stop!

I notice that she's sitting farther from me now, and I begin to feel guilty.

"Hey uh...you can sit next to me...if you want. I mean, you don't have to if you don't want to..."

Why am I stuttering?

Brain, start functioning correctly.

I'm probably sleepy.

Yeah.

That's why I'm stuttering so much.

Her eyes light up and she scoots over to me.

Close enough so that I could smell the scent of her strawberry shampoo.

Hours pass and my eyelids begin to drop in tiredness.
