Shawn POV
"Have you found anything on her?"
"Just that a strange number kept calling my old number."
"And? Was it Beyoncé? Did she leave a message?"
"Calm down Kelly, I can't retrieve the voice messages because they were from years ago. But when I called back, the number was disconnected."
"She hasn't called us or Solange either. You think she's-"
"She ain't dead. If so, I would have found King in the system and been able to track him down."
"Not if someone kidnapped him."
"Nobody has them, alright? I messed up! I left my fiancé and son alone! I neglected them to the point where she decided to show me better than she could tell me!"
"Shawn-"
"She didn't have to take King though. An address or phone number would have been nice."
"I don't think she left intentionally."
"The girl wrote me a letter basically saying because I chose to provide for my family that she was leaving."
"You know that's not what she meant." Michelle said smacking me in the back of the head. "Beyoncé told us how you would be gone days at a time, sometimes not even calling to check on her and King."
"I didn't mean-"
"That doesn't matter now. Our bestfriend is out there somewhere, who knows where, because she felt alone." I sighed.
"Michelle and I are going to have to tell her parents eventually. Her mom keeps asking have we heard from her."
"She's just now asking about her?"
"They got into an argument a while back right before King's party."
"I'm coming down there this weekend. I'll tell them myself."
"You sure? You're not really her father's favorite person."
"I'd rather they hear it from me.""Hey ma."
"My baby's home! Oh I've missed you so much! How are you? How was the case? Did they hurt you?"
"Ma chill" I said laughing. "I'm good."
"I know, I was just worried. We lost contact with you and then you appeared on tv saying that you finally caught those drug smugglers."
"It was a lot but I'm good now."
"Well look who decided to visit?"
"Hey Mrs. V!" I embraced her in a tight hug. "How've you been?"
"I've been good. You staying for dinner?"
"Yeah. I have to leave for a while but I'll be back."
"Okay, tell your lovely girlfriend I said hello."
"I will." she turned to leave. "Where's pops?"
"He should be home by dinner. Come sit and talk to your mama. How have things been since you came back?"
I couldn't lie to her, "Not good."
"What's wrong? Is it that girl? She still holding on to a grudge from all those years ago? I told you-"
"Ma stop. Bey and King are missing. They've been missing for some years now apparently and I don't have the slightest clue as to where they are."
It was quiet for a moment before she spoke, "She hasn't called here as far as I know."
"As far as you know?"
"That girl only spoke to your father, if and when she did call. You know this. I never asked about her because she isn't my concern."
"Ma-"
"Look as much as I don't get along with her, I would tell you if she called. I can see you're broken up over it."
"Yeah, King gone too. I'm just praying that they're together because I don't know what I'd do if either of them were hurt."
"Have you told anyone else this?"
"Just Kelly, Michelle, and her sister. I was going to meet her parents later and explain what's going on."
"Be careful. Her parents weren't too fond of you. I think they hate you even more when you guys moved away. Call me if you need anything."
"I will.""Mrs. Knowles." I said giving her a hug as I stepped into Beyoncé's childhood home.
"Hello Shawn, it's a pleasure to see you after all these years. We saw what you did down there in Florida. I'm proud of you."
I smiled, "Thank you ma'am."
"Even my husband had nice things to say." she said as we entered the living room where her father sat. "Ain't that right Mathew?"
He stood to his feet, "Hello Shawn. Good to see you."
"Uh same here sir." I said shaking his hand.
"What brings you by?"
"It's about Beyoncé."
"How is she? She hasn't called here in years." her mom said.
"She hasn't?"
"No, we got into a disagreement over King. I said some things, she said some things. It was all a big mess. I've tried to call and apologize but she won't answer."
"Oh well, you know I just got back."
"We know, I'm sure my daughter was all over you. Did she stay in Florida?"
"Tina, too much." she waved him off.
"Actually, no."
"Why not? I mean not to pry into y'all's bedroom or anything. But the girl is madly in love with you."
"I don't know how to tell y'all this but-"
"Your baby girl is home!!" I heard and then Solange appeared.
"Hey baby girl!" her dad said standing up to give her a hug.
"Hey mama!"
"Hey Solo. Look who's here."
She looked at me and saw the look on my face, "You came to tell them?"
"We're not getting any closer so I might as well. I was supposed to protect her and obviously failed."
Her parents looked between us confused, "Go ahead. I won't interrupt."
"What's going on?" Mrs. Knowles asked.
"Beyoncé and King have been missing for almost four years, as far as I know. I only found out when I returned home. I didn't tell you right away because I thought I could find her and bring her back safely."
"Missing?"
"Boy this better be some kind of joke. And if it is, it ain't funny."
"Daddy, he's telling the truth. I stopped getting letters and phone calls from her years ago." Solange said in a quiet voice.
"I knew I shouldn't have let her leave with you!" Mr. Knowles said standing up angrily. "I trusted my daughter and only grandson with you and this happens?!"
"Sir I-"
"Get out!"
"But-"
"Get the hell out of my house!"
"Daddy he's been trying to help! Can't you see he's hurt about BB and King being gone too?"
"I don't give a dam! They're both out there, only God knows where, and it's on his watch! The little faith I had for you is gone because now my child and grandchild are missing! Get out and don't comeback until you've found both of them. And when you do, I'll make sure they never leave with you again."
I got up to leave, "I'm sorry. I'll do my best to bring them back safely."Beyoncé POV
"My daughter is coming to visit me and I'd love for you two to meet."
"I don't know. I have to work tonight and I might be too tired."
"Nonsense Giselle. She'll be here in the afternoon and you can come have dinner with us before you go to work. I know you hungry."
"I'm fine."
"When was the last time you ate a full decent meal?" I got quiet, "Exactly."
"Thanks again for watching them for me."
"It's not a problem. I look at them as if they were my grand babies since my children don't have any children."
I left to go to work and it went pretty smooth tonight. I was on edge most of night though, scared that Julius might walk in and pull the same shit he did a few days ago. I just keep thinking about how this all my fault. I know y'all wondering why I won't go home or call somebody. I'm scared, I mean it won't just be me and King going back. I have my daughter that no one knows about. What if they won't accept her? I won't allow for anyone to disrespect my children.Next Day
"Can I have chicken tenders?"
"You don't want to get something different? You eat chicken tenders so much you're going to turn into one."
She gasped, "Brother am I going to be a chicken?"
"No, mommy was just being silly." He gave her a hug for reassurance. I love their little bond. I knocked on the door and waited for someone to open it. A few moments later Mama G came and let us in.
"Hey, come on in. I'll go get her and we can leave out."
"Mommy I have to potty. Can you take me?"
"But you're a big girl Aubri."
"Pleeeaaassseee?"
"King go sit on the couch until it's time to leave. Let's go stinka butt."
After Aubri handled her business we came back in the living room and King seemed a little off. As soon as he saw me he ran and stood behind me.
"King, what's wrong?" I knelt down to his level.
"The lady said she knows me but but I don't remember her."
I stood up and came face to face with Mama G's daughter. "Uhm, hello."
"Hi, I'm Michelle. Gloria's daughter. You guys look really familiar. Have we met before?"
"I don't think so, I'm not from around here."
"Oh, where are you from?"
"Texas."
"Oh then we've definitely not met. I've only been one time and it was really short. I'm sorry if I scared your son."
"No, he's fine. He just gets freaked out when strangers approach him when I'm not around."
"Noted."
"I can see everyone is aquatinted. Let's go eat."At the restaurant we all sat down and began talking amongst ourselves. Aubri wanted chicken tenders but I made her get broccoli instead of fries, that's too much starch. She had an attitude but I don't care.
"So have you heard from your sister?"
"Yeah, she's supposed to be graduating this fall. Giselle you should come."
"I wouldn't want to intrude on family matters."
"Nonsense. As much as mama tells us about you, you're practically our little sister. Andrea wanted to come but something about promising her neighbor to watch his house. I don't know. But I'm sure she'd be glad to meet you."
"I don't know if-"
"Giselle, don't let pride get in the way. I will help you, you know that. And you can pay me back if it's that big of a deal."
"Okay then."
"Then it's settled. Y'all won't have to worry about bringing coats, it's always warm down there. And my uncle owns a huge house, so you won't have to worry about a hotel."
"So Michelle tell me about your job." The dinner went on then they dropped me off at work and the cycle began again.Short but next chapter, I'm warning you now, shit is gonna hit the fan🤗
