Beyoncé POV
"Shhh." I heard.
"But I want mommy to wake up."
"Aubri, she's sleeping. Look."
I then felt a body next to me. "Mommy are you sleeping?" she whispered.
"Not anymore." I said with my eyes still closed.
"Good. Can you play with me?"
I opened my eyes slowly, "How did y'all even get here?" I asked in a tired tone.
"TT came and got us because Ms. G had to go run with Aaron."
"Huh?"
"She went to go run errands, Aubri." King said.
"I said that."
"Why don't you go play with your cousin/bestfriend?"
"She got in trouble with her mommy and got a whoopin."
"Y'all ate?"
"Yeah, we had cereal."
"Did you take your breathing treatment this morning before you left?"
"Yes. Ms. G help me." she said smiling. "Tomorrow my last one?"
"Yeah baby. Tomorrow is the last one."
"And I not get tired no more?"
I chuckled, "You won't get tired anymore."
"Can we go to the party?" King asked.
"What party?"
"TT said it was a party tomorrow. She said it's going to have fireworks and everything."
"I'll have to talk to her about it first."
"Okay."
"Let's go play the Wii."
"Oooo can we box?"
"But I want to play tennis."
"Y'all can take turns." I got out of bed, "Let me brush my teeth first and I'll be in there."
They hopped out of the bed and went to the living room. I had a few clothes over here from previous visits. I put on a simple black tank top and shorts. I did two small twists and let the rest of my hair fall. After I got myself together, I joined them. I saw my sister sitting on the couch with her laptop, I'm assuming working. When she saw me she looked up smiling.
"I made you a plate and left it in the microwave."
"Thanks." I went to heat it up and brought it back to watch them play. "Where's my baby?"
"I know you see both of your kids right there."
"I'm talking about my other baby."
"Who Laiya? Ch. She's in trouble for talking back."
"What she say?"
"I told her to clean her room before her and Aubri started playing. You know what she told me? She said why does she have to clean it if it's just going to get messy again."
I laughed hard at that, "Well she does have a point."
"I don't care, I'm her mother and if I tell her to do something she better do it. So I told her again, and she told me her daddy doesn't make her clean her room at his house. I told her this was my house and my rules. Then she tells me that it's her room, so it should be her rules." I was cracking up. "I yanked her bright ass up and wore her out right there then sent her crying to her room."
"Aww my baby."
"Aww nothing. Her mouth is too dam slick."
"She gets it honest. All of us have slick mouths."
"I'm trying to stop the habit with the next generation."
I shook my head and finished eating and went to throw my trash away. I went up to Laiya's room and she was laying down with a tear stained face. I rubbed her back and then picked her up taking her downstairs.
"Beyoncé what are you doing?" I sat down with her in my lap and she leaned her head against my chest.
"She's sorry Rasheeda. Ain't that right Laiya?" she nodded her head with two fingers in her mouth. "Let the girl play."
"No more talking back Alaiya. I'm serious."
"I promise mommy."
"Give me kiss and you can go play." she crawled out of my lap and went to kiss Rasheeda on the lips. "Go head and play with your cousins."
"BB saves the day." I said doing a little dance.
"I'm going to remember this when you put one of them on punishment."
"They ain't talking back. The worse they'll do is argue with each other. And they rarely do that."
"Just you wait, one day Aubri is going to be a teenager like you were."
"Oh Lord, please no." we laughed. It was Sunday and so we enjoyed the rest of our day relaxing with the kids. I haven't been to church in years, but we might end up going soon. Rasheeda's been asking me to come with her. I just don't know, the way my life's been, I don't even know if I'll be accepted in the Lord's house.Shawn POV
"What's up man? How was the trip home?"
"Terrible."
"Her parents don't know where she might be?"
"Nah, her dad flipped and her mom was in a state of shock when I told them."
"You said her sister was there? She didn't try to help you out?"
"Yeah she did but I just think they were more scared because King may or may not be with her. They think she's in trouble."
"And you don't?"
"I don't know. That letter I found made it seem like she was willingly leaving me for good."
"You don't know when that was written. She could have just been upset at the time. I don't think she would just separate you from your kid like that."
"Man, listen. Her and my mom don't get along. Ask me when's the last time she held my son." he looked at me, "Never. Bey would only let me send her pics once a month. If she feels that you're doing her or King wrong, she'll block you out real quick."
"Dam. But you're his dad, she can't just block you out. You got rights."
"Yeah but she probably felt more alone when I left. I should have stayed."
"You think you did the right thing? Taking the case, even though it might have cost you your family?"
"If I knew that me taking this case would cause me to lose them, I probably would not have taken it. But then again, I wouldn't be able to provide for my family."
"Aye you know I'm down to help you find them."
"Appreciate it man."
