I got to Lissa's house and her husband, Christian, was pacing in the front porch. I walked up to him and gave him a big hug.
Having kids has changed all of us, but I think it changed him the most."What's wrong?" I ask him
"I don't like this." He says
"Christian, if you're worried about Lissa getting hurt, you know I would never let that happen." I said
"Thank you, Rose." He said, hugging me again. I walked inside and I heard a squeal.
"Auntie Rosie!" Lissa and Christian's son Caleb came running in and slammed his tiny body into my legs. He looked so freaking adorable. He was wearing dark wash jeans with sunglasses and a shirt that said Hey Girl on it.
"How you doing, buddy?" I ask, picking him up and setting him on my hip. Lissa greets me at the door with a big hug.
"I have missed you." She said, tears gleaming in her eyes.
"Now now. No need to get sad." I say, patting her shoulder and smiling. I haven't seen Lissa and Christian since Toby was born.
"Im sorry it's just been too long." She says, wiping tears from her eyes.
"Why so emotional?" I asked her. She glanced down at her belly. I didn't even notice the baby bump she had going on. I reached my hand up and placed it on her stomach.
"Oh my god! How long until i get to hold my new neice or nephew?" I exclaimed.
"Its a girl and at the end of next month were hoping." She said.
"You're really that pregnant?" I asked. She nods her head.
"You're not coming with us." Christian said as he walked in. When he reached Lissa, he first kissed her on the cheek and then leaned down and kissed her belly.
"I-"
"I agree. But who's gonna bring him back?" I asked, interupting Lissa.
"I am." A husky voice came from the doorway. I turned around to see Adrian holding a sleeping Emma in one arm and Toby's carrier in the other hand.
"And who's gonna watch the kids?" I asked, walking over to him and taking Emma from him and laying her down on the couch.
"Who do you think?" Lissa asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You're gonna take care of a five month old and two three year olds all by yourself while being as pregnant as you are?" I asked doubtfully.
"Well not all by myself, of course. Adrian's mother has agreed to help." I turned to Adrian with an expression of concern on my face.
"Don't worry, they'll be fine. After all, my mother did raise me and look how I turned out. A gorgeous wife and two beautiful children! She'll be fine for a couple of days." He said, leaning down to kiss me. Just then, Daniella Ivashkov walked in.
"I am so glad you called me, Lissa. I haven't seen my grandchildren since the little one was born!"
"His name is Toby, Mother." Adrian said. He saw the look on my face and chuckled, pulling me close to him.
"Toby, right right. I'll remember that!" She said.
"Are we ready?"My father, Abe, came down the stairs lugging many huge duffle bags behind him.
"Are you packing the whole house Old Man?" I asked him.
"Just the essentials." He commented.
"Mommy?" A tiny voice came from the couch behind me. Emma was sitting up with tears in her eyes.
"What's wrong Little One?" I asked as i kneeled down in front of her.
"I thought I wasn't gonna see you again." She sniffled. I reached up and wiped the tears from her eyes.
"You will see me again in a couple of days, I promise. Mommy and Daddy have to go on a buisness trip and you and Toby get to have a sleepover with Caleb and Aunt Lissa!" I exclaimed.
"Oh, okay." She said, smiling.
"Why don't you go play with Caleb in his room?" I suggested.
"Ok, bye Mommy!" She said as she hugged me and ran upstairs.
"Alright people, lets get moving!" Abe said as he clapped his hands. I picked Toby up out of his carrier and kissed his cheek.
"Mommy and Daddy will be back in a few days, I promise." I said to him and handed him to Lissa. As we left, I had to wipe tears from my eyes.
