Dimitri and I had been sitting in the living room waiting for Adrian to get back from wherever he had gone with the kids, when I threw my phone on the couch.
"We need to talk about us." I said.
"There's nothing to talk about." He said bitterly.
"There is plenty to talk about! Like the fact that you think you are not forgivable! OR the fact that you're one of my best friends and you don't even want to talk to me!" I exclaimed.
"Rose, just leave it." He commented.
"I'm not a dog Dimitri." He didn't respond. I got up and went to my bedroom when I got a text from Lissa.
CID! Get here asap!
CID is code for Christian is drunk, which happens a lot. Most of the time he is just a little tipsy, but then I felt the urgency through the bond. I immediately let my walls down to see through Alissa's eyes.
Christian was stumbling around the bar with a bottle of bourbon in one hand and a glass in the other hand. He went up to a stranger and said
"Hey beautiful, how you doin tonight?" The kicker was that the stranger was a guy. I put my wall back up and grabbed my jacket.
"Where are you going?" Dimitri asked me, getting to his feet.
"It's none of your business. You're not my babysitter." I said calmly, walking out the door. I had expected him to follow me, so I ignored him when I heard the door open behind me again.
He caught up to me and put his hand on my shoulder but I shook it off.
"Rose I-"
"Listen Dimitri." I spun around, cutting him off. "I know you think there was something that needed to be forgiven, but the way I see it is you weren't you so it doesn't matter. I wasn't pissed until you started acting like an asshole." He stared at me wide eyed for a second before he composed himself.
" Rose, I'm so sorry. I just can't have you in my life like that right now." He said. I stared it him, shocked.
"You think I want you in MY life like that? I have a husband and two kids! I'm happy with my family and I don't need you coming in and ruining that. So just butt out of my life and I'll leave you alone." I said bitterly. Turning on my heel, I walked briskly to the bar, leaving Dimitri frozen in his tracks behind me.
God he pissed me off. Like I love him and all, he knows that, but I don't love him the way I used to. I truly don't think there is anything to forgive for what happened in Russia but things will still never be the same between us. Those kinds of things change relationships. I moved on a long time ago and I am not going back. I love Adrian and and my kids and I wouldn't trade them for the world.
I smiled at the thought of my family as I opened the door to the bar. My smile faltered when Lissa's emotions hit me full force. Worry, exhaustion, and disbelief coursed through our bond. Christian was standing on the bar with two girls, dancing to the music coming from the speakers. I spotted Alissa sitting at a table in the corner with her head in her hands. She looked up when I came in and I smiled at her. She knew exactly what was coming.
As I approached the bar, the bartender gave me a look that said 'please help me', so I did. Climbing on top of the bar, I picked Christian up and threw his drunk ass over my shoulder and jumped down. Lisa was at my side in a second. I could feel her gratitude through the bond and we smiled at each other.
As we walked out of the bar, Christian began spouting crap about the injustice of not being able to finish his bottle of bourbon. Lisa and I hurried across court to her house.
